The New York Yankees will be looking to keep their hot streak going on Thursday as they wrap up a three-game set with the lowly Baltimore Orioles. The first pitch is set for 1:05 PM ET in the Bronx.

The Yanks will go with big right-hander Jameson Taillon in the series finale, while the O’s send Bruce Zimmerman, their best starter so far.

New York is heavily favored at -240 odds for Thursday’s game and has won three of their last four meetings with Baltimore. Amid their hot streak, The Yankees’ AL East odds are now at +275

Baltimore vs New York Probable Pitchers

The Orioles were handed a devastating blow recently with their ace John Means going on the shelf with an elbow injury. Unfortunately, he’s just undergone Tommy John Surgery and will now start his road to recovery.

That being said, Zimmerman has done a nice job so far as their next-best arm in the rotation. The 27-year-old is 1-0 with a stellar 1.20 ERA in three outings, striking out 16 and walking just five. He already faced the Yankees as well, limiting them to four hits and no runs across five scoreless frames.

Zimmerman vs Taillon

Bruce Zimmerman

Jameson Taillon
1-0 Record 1-1
1.20 ERA 3.07
1.13 WHIP 1.09
.231 OBA .263

After a rather poor 2021, Taillon is showing promise early on this season. He’s made three starts, compiling a 3.07 ERA and 1-1 record. Most importantly, the former first-round pick has given up just one free pass in 14.2 innings of work.

Taillon’s last outing was arguably his best yet, lasting five innings and allowing just one run to the Cleveland Guardians. He also faced Baltimore in their series earlier this month but was chased after just 4.2 frames, allowing two earned runs.

Orioles Betting Outlook

No one expected Baltimore to be good in 2022 and they certainly haven’t been. While their pitching staff is looking respectable thus far, the O’s offense is struggling immensely, hitting just .210 as a team and scoring a measly 3.1 runs per game, the 27th worst in the Majors.

There isn’t a lot of experience in this lineup against Taillon, but no one has had much success. Baltimore is hitting just .179 off him in 42 at-bats. Austin Hays and Cedric Mullins are about the only ones who hit Taillon well, both batting well over .400.

Yankees Betting Outlook

New York is really hitting their stride right now, with Wednesday’s win marking their fifth in a row. The Bronx Bombers swept the Guardians then have now taken the first two games of this series with Baltimore. The offense is coming alive as well, scoring 27 runs across the last three contests. Aaron Judge in particular has gone 7 for 19 since the beginning of the Cleveland series. He’s also smacked three homers during that span and sits at +4000 in AL MVP odds.

Judge is one of several hitters in the Yankees lineup who squares up Zimmerman, going 3 for 6 lifetime with two long balls. However, the lefty shut NY down in mid-April, as they managed just four hits.

Orioles vs Yankees Prediction

Despite Zimmerman dominating the Yankees in his last start against them, New York is really thriving at the plate currently. That being said, I like Aaron Boone’s squad to complete the sweep with another convincing win.

Pick: Yankees -1.5 (-115)
