Can Jury Win in His Bellator Debut?

Benson Henderson (27-8) is on a three-fight winning streak as he most recently beat Adam Piccolotti, while also beating Saad Awad and Roger Huerta. He has fought for the Bellator title but lost to Michael Chandler. In his career, he has notable wins over Patricio Freire, Nate Diaz, Frankie Edgar, twice, Jorge Masvidal, Donald Cerrone, twice, and Gilbert Melendezamong others. He also was the former WEC and UFC lightweight champion.

Myles Jury (17-4) is set for his Bellator debut after being cut from the UFC. He is currently on a two-fight losing streak after most recently dropping a decision against Andre Fili and before that was TKO’d by Chad Mendes. He does have some very impressive wins in the UFC, where he had more success at lightweight. He has wins over Takanori Gomi, Diego Sanchez, and Michael Johnson.

Myles Jury is a much better fighter at lightweight and is getting a massive fight in his Bellator debut. The winner of this will set themselves up for a potential title shot.

Benson Henderson, obviously, has a very good ground game and has several submission wins. Meanwhile, Jury has been submitted himself a couple of times. So, for the former UFC and WEC champion, getting the fight to the ground may be the key to victory. But, I favor his striking over Jury’s in this one as well. Yet, I don’t think he will be able to finish the fight but Henderson will win the fight by decision and could earn a title shot next time out.

Pick: Benson Henderson (-265)

Will Page Get Back Into the Win Column

Michael Page (14-1) was into the semifinals of the welterweight grand prix where he was taking on former champion, Douglas Lima. ‘MVP’ had success in the fight and even rocked Lima at one point, and when he went in looking for a finish, Lima caught him and knocked him out cold. Before that, he beat Paul Daley by decision and has other wins over David Rickels, Evangelista Santos, and Ricky Rainey.

Richard Kiely (3-1) is set for his second Bellator fight and the biggest fight of his career. In his promotional debut, he TKO’d Mickael Bucher at Bellator 217, the last time they were in Dublin. His lone loss came at the hands of Alex Lohore by submission. He has finished all three fights by KO/TKO.

This is a no-brainer of a pick and a fight that should have never been made. Michael Page is a legitimate welterweight contender, but Bellator has been trying to protect him and give him easy fights. It has been something many fans have been mad at. After him beating Paul Daley, and a close fight against Lima, the hope was that would stop, yet that is not the case.

This is not a matter of who will win, but a matter of when will Page finish this fight. It seems likely he will knockout Kiely, who hails from Ireland and do so in impressive fashion. Even ‘MVP’ says Kiely is a joke of an opponent.

Expect another highlight-reel knockout here by Michael Page.
