After getting lit on fire by one of the NBA’s hottest new duos, the Philadelphia 76ers (40-22, 16-12 away) now have to handle the league’s hottest team when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks (45-17, 27-5).

The Bucks have vaulted to the best record in basketball on the strength of a 16-game winnings streak, with the latest a trouncing of the Orlando Magic, in a game they stroked 26 threes.

Philly just got drilled with 25 three balls in a loss at Dallas, sending them to their third loss in four games. They’re the three-seed in the East’s current NBA Playoff Bracket, five games back of the Bucks.

The NBA odds have the hometown Bucks as 5.5-point favorites, and -215 on the moneyline. At 27-5, Milwaukee owns the best home record in the East, and are second in wins to only the Denver Nuggets. They’re a sparkling 20-11-1 against the spread.

Philadelphia is one of five teams in the East with a winning road record, going 16-12. They are in the middle game of a 5-game road trek, splitting the first two.

Philadelphia Betting Analysis

The Sixers shot 57.7% from the field, and 44.4% from distance and still came up on the losing end of a 133-126 decision to the Mavericks.

That can happen when Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving each go for 40+, spoiling some pretty good efforts by the visitors. Joel Embiid had 35 points and eight rebounds after missing the previous win over Miami with a sore foot. All indications are he’s good to go in primetime.

James Harden had 27 points and 13 assists, while Tyrese Maxey got the start, and went for 29 points on 12-for-21 shooting.

The difference was allowing Dallas to shoot 25-for-48 from three, getting outscoring in that category by 39 points. This is a Sixers’ side that usually holds teams to 34.8% from beyond the arc, the 6th-best figure in the league.

Overall, they’re third in scoring defense, allowing 110.3 points per game. While they run middle-of-the-pack in scoring at 114.2 points per game, Philly is eighth in field-goal shooting (48.2%) and tied for third from distance (38.4%).

Milwaukee Betting Analysis

You have to go back to January 21 for the Milwaukee’s last loss, a 114-102 decision in Cleveland.

Since then, they’ve thrown up nothing but W’s, including a 139-117 drubbing of the Magic. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 31 points, seven rebounds and six dimes, while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 23 points and nine assists.

As a team, four players hit at least four three-pointers each, including 4-for-5 from Brook Lopez, who had 18 points. Giannis and Pat Connaughton struck for three each, while Jae Crowder dropped a pair. Milwaukee shot 26-for-56 from the three, a 46.4% clip.

The streak numbers are impressive: the Bucks are averaging 123.7 points a game, on 49% shooting from the field and 43.1% — on 43.1 attempts per game! — from three-point range. Their point differential is +13.

Defensively, teams are scoring just 110.7 points, shooting just 43.8% from the field, and 32.2% from three.

76ers vs Bucks Betting Prediction

There’s also the game-within-game battle between two of the league’s premier stars in Giannis and Embiid, two of the top three candidates in the NBA MVP odds, both staring up at Nikola Jokic.

While they’ve racked up W’s, the Bucks haven’t been the a great bet against the top teams of late, going 0-5 ATS in their last five against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

Philly hasn’t exactly been stellar in this head-to-head, going 1-4 ATS in their last five in Milwaukee, and 2-5 ATS in the last seven overall against the Bucks.

I think Milwaukee wins, but Philly did hang with Dallas after an early onslaught. They’re also among the best teams in the NBA going on a days rest, going 23-16-0 ATS.
