  • The Chicago Bulls are 3.5-point home favorites vs the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night
  • Both teams are in the play-in picture, jockeying for a 7 or 8-seed
  • Read below for the Hawks vs Bulls odds and predictions

How important is the upcoming tilt between the Atlanta Hawks (39-39, 16-23 away), currently an 8-seed, and the Chicago Bulls (38-40, 21-18 home), in the 10th and final play-in spot in the conference?

For the Bulls, a win gives them the all-important season series win, and a crucial tiebreaker. That could push them to eighth in the East’s NBA Playoff Bracket, and an extra game to make the playoffs, in case they lose to the seventh seed.

Atlanta would like nothing more than to split the series, and keep them out of a win-to-stay-alive scenario as a 9 or 10-seed. They will be down pieces, though, as De’Andre Hunter (knee) has already been ruled out, and Trae Young (non-COVID illness) is questionable.

This biggie goes Tuesday (April 4) at 8pm ET from the United Center in Chicago, IL. You can watch the game live on NBA League Pass.

Hawks vs Bulls Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Atlanta Hawks +3.5 (-110) +135 OFF
Chicago Bulls -3.5 (-110) -155 OFF

The NBA odds have the hometown Bulls as 3.5-point favorites and -155 on the moneyline, giving them an implied win probability of 60.78%.

With a record of 21-18 at the United Center, Chicago has the fewest home wins of any team in the top 10 of the East. The Hawks are just 16-23 on the road this year.

Atlanta Betting Analysis

It hasn’t been a great home stretch for the Hawks, who did come up with a 132-130 OT win over the Dallas Mavericks last time out.

That makes it 10 straight games the Hawks have alternated wins and and losses.

Dejounte Murray had a team-high 25 points, seven boards and four dimes, as all five starters scored in double figures. Young had 24 points and 12 assists, while John Collins had 18 points and 10 boards.

Collins’ shot has been way off this year, due in part to a finger injury, but he’s found the range of late, hitting 39.4% of his triples in the last eight games.

Offense hasn’t been the problem for Atlanta. The 4th-best scoring team in the league is averaging 123.4 points per game over the last 10, shooting 47.6% from the field, though they are hitting at a dim 34% from distance.

Defensively, the Hawks are surrendering a whopping 123.8 games during the stretch, with teams shooting a blistering 51.6% from the field and a crisp 37.2% from three-point range.

Chicago Betting Analysis

The Bulls looked like a team dead in the water in the first half against the Memphis Grizzlies, trailing by as many as 23 points.

However, Chicago went berserk in the second half, outscoring the West’s 2-seed 75-39 over the final 24 minutes to blow out the Grizz 128-107 last time out.

The Bulls were paced by their all-star wings, as Zach LaVine had 36 points and nine dimes, while DeMar DeRozan dropped 31, with five boards and seven assists.

Coby White came off the bench to score 19, adding six rebounds and five assists, as Chicago blitzed Memphis 40-16 in the third quarter, including a 17-0 run to end the frame and take the lead.

All three head-to-head matchups happened before February, with Chicago taking the latest matchup 111-100 on Jan 23. The other two matchups were 1-posession finishes: a 110-108 Chicago win on December 21, and a 123-122 Atlanta OT win on December 11.

Hawks vs Bulls Betting Prediction

Atlanta hasn’t had an answer for DeRozan and LaVine all season. In three games, DD has averaged 29.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists, while LaVine has put up 21 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

The best bet in this recent head-to-head has been Chicago, who are 6-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings, while Atlanta is just 1-5 ATS in their last six visits to the United Center.

Chicago has been steady as a home favorite this year, going 12-8 ATS — the eight-best success rate in the NBA this season. Despite their poor road record, the Hawks have been a decent road ‘dog wager, going 13-11-1 ATS, just outside the top 10.

With the stakes this high and Young under the weather, look for DeRozan and LaVine to light up the Hawks yet again.
