It will be a showdown between the top two teams in the NBA when the Utah Jazz visit the Phoenix Suns at 10pm ET Wednesday at Phoenix Suns Arena.

The Jazz lead the league with their 38-12 record despite having a nine-game winning streak end Monday with a 111-103 loss to the Mavericks at Dallas as 5.5-point favorites.

A six-game winning streak has raised the Suns’ record to 35-14. They have also won nine of their last 10 games, including slipping past the Rockets 133-130 on Monday in Houston as 14-point favorites.

Off Night for Jazz

The Jazz had their lowest point total since Feb. 7 in the loss to the Mavericks. Utah shot just 27.3% (12-for-44) from three-point range and leading scorer Donovan Mitchell was limited to 16 points on 6-of-23 shooting.

The Jazz are the second-best three-point shooting team in the NBA at 39.5%. They also top the league in made threes and attempted threes.

Mike Conley was the only player who thrived from long range Monday, connecting on 6-of-10 attempts to finish with 28 points. Conley also had seven assists.

It was Conley 11th game this season with 20 or more points and the second time in the last three outings he has reached that mark.

Mitchell was held under 20 for the just the ninth time in 47 games. He is 12th in the league in scoring with a 25.6 average.

Bojan Bogdanovic and Jordan Clarkson also had 16 points each and Rudy Gobert notched his 34th double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks made 23-of-49 three-point attempts for 46.9%. The Jazz are also second in three-point defense at 34.4%.

Booker on Fire

Devin Booker kept the Suns from being upset in Houston as he had 37 points, six rebounds and six assists. He made 6-of-8 shots from beyond the arc.

Booker has scored 113 points in his last three games for a 37.7 average. He also has gone over 30 points in four of the last five games and 14 times overall this season.

His 25.9 scoring average is 10th in the NBA.

Deandre Ayton matched a season high with 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He also had 11 rebounds in notching his 25th double-double.

Mikal Bridges chipped in with 20 points, his first time reaching that mark in 23 games.

Chris Paul had his third straight double-double and 15th of the season, finishing with 19 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and four steals.

It was also Paul’s 500th career game with at least 10 assists. He is the fifth player in league history to do so, joining John Stockton, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash.

The Suns shot 51.2% (44-of-86) from the floor and 48.6% (18-of-37) from distance. However, they allowed the Rockets to shoot 54.4% (43-of-79) from the field, and 51.5% (17-of-33) from beyond the arc.

Phoenix forced Houston into 18 turnovers.

Suns Pulled Upset Last Time

The teams met one other time this season with the Suns winning 106-95 on Dec. 31 at Utah as four-point underdogs. That also happens to be the Jazz’s last home loss, reeling off 22 straight at Vivint Smart Home Arena since.

Booker had 25 points and seven assists to lead the Suns, who made 51.5% (17-of-35) of their threes. Bridges and Jae Crowder had 16 points each.

Mitchell led the Jazz with 23 points. Gobert added 18 points and 14 rebounds and Conley contributed 16 points.

Regardless of their clunker Monday in Dallas, look for the Jazz – who were perhaps looking ahead to Wednesday – to get revenge in this matchup.
