The Brooklyn Nets may be down to a Big 2, who currently only share the court for road games, but Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving may just be the most supersonic duo in the NBA.

They’ll be down to just KD on the second night of a back-to-back, welcoming in a very good Dallas Mavericks team Tuesday night, though they may be down their superstar as well.

It all tips off from Barclays Center at 7:30pm ET, in a game that can be seen live on ESPN.

The hometown Nets are a 1.5-point home underdogs in this one.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Outlook

The Nets have won four in a row, and they’ve been powered by recent spectacular performances by their superstar duo. The latest was Monday night’s 150-108 evisceration of the Orlando Magic.

Kyrie Irving was a man on fire, dropping 60 points on a wild 20-for-31 from the field in a tidy 35 minutes. The mercurial Nets guard had a whopping 41 at halftime.

That’s a game after Durant detonated the New York Knicks the previous game at home, pouring in 53 points and nine assists in a 110-107 win. In five games since returning from a knee injury, he’s averaged 32 points, six boards and seven assists on 52.3% shooting from the field.

Kyrie and KD also combined for 47 points in a thrashing of the Philadelphia 76ers. In their last four games, Brooklyn has scored less than 129 points just once.

The high-octane scoring binge is coming as Brooklyn is still fighting to get healthy. Ben Simmons (back), Seth Curry (ankle), Cameron Thomas (back) and LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) are all out Tuesday.

As is Irving, who is still forced to sit with vaccine mandates in New York.

Dallas Mavericks Betting Outlook

Dallas has been strong since the all-star break, currently winners of seven of their last eight games. They sit in fifth in the West, in a tie with the 4th-place Utah Jazz and currently have +1700 odds to win NBA Western Conference.

As always, they’re powered by all-world wing Luka Doncic. He’s led the team in scoring in 13 of the last 15 games, and he was instrumental in a thrilling 95-92 win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night.

Doncic put up a game-high 26 points, with eight rebounds and eight assists, as the Mavericks put an end to Boston’s 5-game winning streak. Spencer Dinwiddie added 18 points, five rebounds and four assists and drilled the game-winning shot.

In 11 games since being dealt to the Mavs, Dinwiddie is averaging 17.5 points on 50.8% shooting, including a 44.2% mark from three, and 4.5 assists.

The win didn’t come without some pain, as Doncic was clearly hobbled with a left hamstring injury that forced him to the sideline in the first half.

While he’s not listed on the injury report, there’s much speculation Luka may sit this one out for rest.

Nets vs Mavericks Pick

This is the second and final meeting between the two cross-conference teams this season, with Brooklyn taking a 102-99 decision on Dec 7. Hard to glean much insight from this one, though, with James Harden still a Net and Kristaps Porzingis still on Dallas.

Brooklyn has struggled on the back end of back-to-backs, sporting just a 2-9 record, with a 2-8-1 mark against the spread. Dallas is 19-14 as a road team this season, which is the third-most road wins in the West. Dallas also boasts the third-best ATS win percentage away from home, a sparkling 21-12.

Dallas operates with the slowest pace in the NBA, but they also lead the NBA in scoring defense, surrendering 103.5 a night.

With no Kyrie, and on the second night of a back-to-back, Brooklyn’s scoring binge takes a one-game hiatus. The good news? Durant was on cruise control all game against Orlando, so he should be all systems go. With a hobbled Doncic, bank on KD to carry Brooklyn to a big win.

Pick: Nets +1.5 (-110)
