It looked like business as usual for the Boston Celtics in the first half of Game 1 of the Easter Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.

Then the third quarter happened, and the C’s watched an 8-point lead disintegrate under a hail of poor shooting and turnovers. That, plus a Miami team that shook off the rust from a five-day break to club Boston 39-14 in the third en route to a 118-107 win.

They’re back at it Thursday night from FTX Arena in Miami for Game 2, and not surprisingly, the top-seeded Heat are 3.5-point favorites.

We’ve put together a 5-leg SGP with a ton of juice, and it’s star heavy. Hit all of these, and there’s a sweet payoff for just a little scratch. We’ll start with Heat star Jimmy Butler, who has been beasting all playoffs.

Scoring Props to Consider

There’s not many players left in the playoffs going as well as Jimmy Buckets. He’s cracked the 30-point plateau in four of the last five games, two of those in the 40-bomb category. One of them came last game out, when he dropped 41 points on a crisp 12-for-19 shooting night.

The obvious choice here would be to expect him to reach similar heights on this hot streak, but the C’s are one of the few teams that can scheme, with the able manpower, to not allow such an outburst again. At least not at that efficiency.

Boston owned the NBA’s top defensive rating and scoring defense this year, and will likely make priority one to ensure someone else beats them. For that we’re taking Butler under 27.5 points.

On the other hand, Jayson Tatum was gangbusters in the first half with 21 points, but had just eight points the rest of the way. Expect him to respond as budding megastars do. So we’ll take the over at 29.5 points.

Marcus Smart is expected back in the lineup after a foot injury downed him for Game 1. He’s been on a tear since a brutal Game 5 loss to the Bucks, where he was blocked and stripped in the dying seconds.

He’s combined for at least 20 points and assists in his last two games. Look for him to make a third.

Take Tucker and Brown Props Too

Sort of lost in the ascension of Tatum into the superstar tier is the do-everything play of Jaylen Brown. Minus his major struggles from the free throw line, Boston’s second-star averaged 22.3 points and 7.3 boards while drilling 41.9% of this threes against the Bucks.

He had 24 points and 10 boards in the loss to Miami. Let’s focus on his rebounding efforts, where he’s gone over 6.5 boards in four of the Celtics’ last six games. I expect that activity to continue in Game 2.

And PJ Tucker was one of the Heat’s unsung heroes in the series-opening win, overcoming an ankle sprain to deliver a solid effort defending Tatum, while posing a modest line of five points, six boards and three assists.

He did drill a triple in three attempts, though Tucker has gone only 3-for-12 (25%) from  distance in his last five games. I suspect the ball will find its way to him for a few more corner-three looks, though, with the extra focus on stopping Butler.

Can’t turn down those odds (+195) for a pair of money balls.
