It’s a potential NBA Finals’ preview Monday night when the Chicago Bulls host the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns roll into town with the NBA’s best record, reeling off 12 wins in their last 13, and the only team at 20 road wins on the season. Somehow, they’re just tied for third in the latest 2022 NBA Championship odds.

As for Chicago, they’ll be both shorthanded and short on rest, playing their second of a back-to-back after dropping one to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

At 33-20, they sit in second in the East, with the fourth-best odds to win the Conference. It all gets underway at 8pm ET at the United Center, where the Bulls are tied with Milwaukee for most home wins in the conference with 19.

The game can be seen live on NBA TV.

Phoenix Suns Betting Analysis

After a 124-115 loss to the Atlanta Hawks that snapped their 11-game win streak, Phoenix got back to the business of winning Saturday vs the Washington Wizards.

The Suns flexed their top scoring defense, holding Washington to 35.3% shooting for the game and a paltry 80 points in a 95-80 W. That’s the fewest they’ve allowed in a game this season. They also had held Washington to a 11 points in the second quarter and 32 in the first half, also top marks on the year.

Deandre Ayton led four starters in double-digit scoring with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Chris Paul had 14 points and nine dimes, while Devin Booker had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists. It was a cool night for a backcourt that has been shredding defenses of late.

Phoenix struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 8-for-31 from downtown, a 25.8% clip. A trip to Chicago might help them rediscover their stroke. The Bulls are tied for 28th in three-point shooting defense, allowing teams to shoot 36.7%.

The Suns are short-handed on the perimeter: Cam Payne (wrist), Landry Shamet (ankle) and Abdel Nader (knee) are all out Monday.

Chicago Bulls Betting Analysis

The Bulls are dealing with one of the toughest stretches of their season, as injuries are piling up. All-star Zach LaVine (back) and Coby White (knee) each missed their second straight contest in a 119-108 loss to Philadelphia.

Both will be game-time decisions for Monday against the Phoenix, as is wing Derrick Jones Jr, who’s dealing with a finger injury. They’re already down starters Alex Caruso (wrist) and Lonzo Ball (knee), out indefinitely after in-season surgery.

DeMar DeRozan did everything he could to keep the Bulls competitive on Sunday, going for 45 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. He was flanked by Nikola Vucevic, who chipped in 23 points, seven boards and five assists.

Unfortunately, Javonte Green was the only other Bull to score in double figures, and Chicago got just 10 points from their bench.

Minus their best defenders in Caruso and Ball, Chicago’s defense is fading, now 18th in scoring defense (109.9 ppg) and 22nd in field goal shooting defense (46.6%).

Suns vs Bulls Pick

It’s the first of a two-game season series, which the Suns swept last year, winning by five in Phoenix and by nine in Chicago. The Suns are a solid 16-9 ATS on the road this season. Only the Memphis Grizzlies holding a better betting away record against the spread.

The Bulls, meanwhile, own the best home ATS mark in the NBA at 17-9, though they are only 3-3 ATS as home ‘dogs.

Phoenix is a beast right now, able to win any style of play. Their gameplan likely calls for grinding the Bulls down defensively, and expected better shooting.

Chicago short-handed makes it tough to go against the best road team in hoops.

The pick: Suns -5.5 (-110)
