Iowa Betting Outlook

Junior forward Kris Murray has become Iowa’s best player, filling the shoes of his twin brother Keegan. Keegan Murray left the Hawkeyes after last season to enter the NBA Draft.

Kris Murray is averaging 21.0 points and 10.6 rebounds, leading the Big Ten in both categories.

He had a monster game against Georgia Tech with 31 points, 20 rebounds, and four assists. The points and rebounds were career-highs.

Murray was 11 of 18 from the floor and connected on four of eight three-point attempts. He had 15 points and 14 rebounds in the first half to help stake Iowa to a 40-29 lead.

It was Murray’s fourth double-double of the season and third in as many games.

Junior forward Patrick McCaffrey is scoring 12.9 points a game. Junior guard Tony Perkins has averages of 12.8 points and 3.5 assists and senior forward Filip Rebraca is scoring 10.3 points and grabbing 8.0 rebounds a game.

The Hawkeyes held a 44-35 rebounding edge and outscored Georgia Tech 27-15 in second-chance points.

Iowa is eighth in the nation in scoring with an 86.4 average. The Hawkeyes are 5-2 against the spread.

Rebraca contributed 13 points and seven rebounds against Georgia Tech and Perkins had 11 points and three assists. Senior wing Connor McCaffrey notched his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Patrick and Connor McCaffrey are the sons of Iowa coach Fran McCaffery.

Duke Betting Outlook

Jon Scheyer brought in the best recruiting class in the country in his first year succeeding the legendary Mike Krzyzewski as Duke’s coach. Center Kyle Filipowski has been the best player among the freshmen.

Filipowski is averaging nearly a double-double with 15.2 points and 9.2 rebounds a game. He is fifth in the ACC in rebounding.

In the win over Boston College, Filipowski had his fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Freshman forward Mike Mitchel led the Blue Devils with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Senior guard Jacob Grandison, a transfer from Illinois, contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists off the bench.

Duke shot 52.8% (28 of 53) from the field and held Boston College to 37.5% (24 of 64). The Blue Devils are 19th in the nation in scoring defense (58.7) and 23rd in three-point defense (26.7%).

Besides Filipowski, junior guard Jeremy Roach is the only Duke player with a double-digit scoring average at 12.2. Roach is also dishing 3.7 assists a game.

Duke has had a player score at least 20 points in a game only once all season when Roach had 21 against Xavier on Nov. 25.

The Blue Devils have split their 10 games ATS.

Iowa vs Duke Prediction

The teams last played during the 2001-02 season with Duke winning 80-62. Look for this one to be closer with Iowa’s high-octane offense giving it the edge, even against the Blue Devils’ staunch defense.

Pick: Iowa +120 ML

Season record: 12-7 (+4.3 units) ATS, 0-1 (-1.0 units) ML
