Ohio State vs Notre Dame Odds, Lines, and Spread

• The Ohio State Buckeyes (3-0) will visit the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-1) on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm ET

The Big Ten-ACC Challenge gets underway on Tuesday as the Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This Tuesday night affair that will take place at Purcell Pavilion at 7:30 pm ET.

The Buckeyes have started the year a perfect 3-0 but they’ve been favored by at least 24.5 each game, so they haven’t exactly been tested.

Can they keep it rolling or will Notre Dame derail their early success?

Fighting Irish Have Been Shaky So Far

Notre Dame was 20-12 overall last season and finished the year having won five of their last seven. However, they haven’t carried over that momentum into the start of their 2020-21 campaign. They’ve only played two games so far and they’re 1-1, but the performances have left much to be designed.

Losing on the road in East Lansing, Michigan to No. 13 Michigan State isn’t anything to be embarrassed about but the effort was. The final score was 80-70 but the Spartans went on a 17-0 run to end the first half and a 9-0 run to start the second half to build a 22-point lead. From there, they coasted. Notre Dame didn’t score a point in over nine minutes of game time.

The Fighting Irish had a pair of games against Western Michigan and No. 13 Tennessee canceled, but when they returned to action on Sunday, they produced a mediocre result. Laying -12 at home, they held off Detroit Mercy 78-70 in a game where Notre Dame actually trailed with 5:53 remaining.

If the Fighting Irish are better than this, they have to start showing it soon or Tuesday’s game won’t be very competitive.

Buckeyes Have Rolled to a 3-0 Start

While the Fighting Irish have had some hiccups, there have far fewer for the Buckeyes, who are now ranked No. 23 in the country. They have won all three of their contests by double-digits – two of which by 29 or more – although they did trail UMass Lowell at times early in the second half of their contest (Ohio State still won by 10).

The Buckeyes have balance as they have four players currently averaging double figures. That includes Justice Sueing, who leads the team at 15.0 points per game, Duane Washington Jr. (14.7), E.J. Liddell (14.3) and C.J. Walker (11.3) all contributing healthy amounts as well.

What’s The Best Bet?

One big key to this contest is going to be the status of some of the Fighting Irish players. Nik Djogo missed the Detroit Mercy game after spraining his ankle in the opener and head coach Mike Brey has indicated that he’s not likely to play on Tuesday. On top of that, Robby Carmody and Elijah Taylor also didn’t play in Notre Dame’s most recent game.

Against Detroit Mercy, Notre Dame was down to just seven scholarship players. If that’s the case again on Tuesday, the Buckeyes should be able to win and cover the spread against the depleted Fighting Irish.
