USC Upstate vs Presbyterian Odds, Lines, and Spread

South Carolina Upstate visits Presbyterian at 5:00 pm ET Thursday in a Big South Conference rematch between two teams that played on the same floor three days earlier at the Templeton Physical Education Center in Clinton, S.C.

Presbyterian won Monday’s game 75-65 as a two-point favorite to improve to 7-12 overall and 5-10 in the Big South. The Blue Hose have won two of their last three games both straight up and against the spread.

USC Upstate (4-16, 4-10) is on a three-game losing streak and has dropped seven of their last eight games. The Spartans have also been the losing side ATS in their last three outings.

Monday Night Basketball

Both teams shot well Monday night as Presbyterian made 52.7% (29 of 55) of its field goal attempts and USC Upstate finished at 52.0% (26 of 50). However, the Spartans were hurt by 18 turnovers as freshman guard Kobe Stewart tied a school record with six steals.

Sophomore guard Trevon Reddish topped Presbyterian with 23 points and freshman guard Rayshon Harrison was right behind with 22. Reddish was 8 of 10 from the floor while Harrison added eight rebounds and four assists.

Junior guard Everett Hammond led three USC Upstate scorers in double figures with 19 points. Junior center Nevin Zink chipped in with 15 and sophomore forward Khydarius Smith finished with 10.

Presbyterian Freshman Shining

Harrison is having an outstanding first collegiate season. He is averaging 16.5 points and 5.2 rebounds while accounting for 31.1% of Presbyterian’s shots when he is on the floor.

On Monday, Harrison was two off his career high in scoring and reached the 20-point mark for the sixth time this season. He has been in double figures in all but one of his 17 games.

Junior forward Winston Hill is the only other Presbyterian player with a double-digit scoring averaging at 12.3. He is also pulling down 6.2 rebounds a game. Hill, a junior college transfer, has reached double figures in points in nine of his 13 games.

Reddish’s 23-point outburst against USC Upstate was only one short of his career best. The College of Charleston transfer is scoring 9.8 points a game.

Off Night for Bruner

Sophomore guard Tommy Bruner leads USC Upstate in scoring (13.8) and assists (3.9).

However, he was held to a season-low seven points by Presbyterian as he took just five shots, his fewest this season. Bruner had scored in double digits in each of the previous 10 games.

Hammond’s 19-point effort Monday, which came despite going 0 for 5 on 3-point attempts, nudged his season average to 12.9. He is also accounting for 29.6% of USC Upstate’s shots.

Zink is averaging 8.9 points a game but has hit double figures in three of his last four games and has a season shooting percentage of 59.3.

Who Will Win Rematch?

While neither team is tearing up the Big South this winter, Presbyterian is better than struggling USC Upstate. Look for the Blue Hose to beat the Spartans for the second time in four days and cover.
