ACC’s Battle of Florida
As mentioned, Miami dominated Florida State last season 27-10 in a low scoring affair. Only one out of their last four head-to-head matchups has gone over the set total.
In 2018, Miami won 28-27 but did not cover as 14-point favorites. In the recent past, these games have been very tight, except for their 2019 matchup.

The under has hit three times in their last four matchups. Defense was the theme of those games, but with Miami’s new found offensive attack this matchup could go very differently.
D’Eriq King has yet to play Florida State in his career, however, James Blackman has suffered on the sideline against Miami. Blackman has only started one game against Florida State in his fourth season with the Seminoles.
The Florida State signal-caller started against Miami in 2017, in which they lost 24-20. Blackman threw for 233 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Miami Is Clearly the Better Team
D’Eriq King has been a problem since joining the Hurricanes. In his first two starts, King has thrown for 469 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Not to mention, he has also rushed 20 times for 92 yards and one touchdown in their two big victories over UAB and Louisville.

Miami dropped 47 points against Louisville last week, so I can’t imagine what they will do against Florida State. The Seminoles put up just 13 points against Georgia Tech in Week 2. Last week, the Yellow Jackets allowed UCF to score 49 points, which means the Seminoles offense was a mess in Week 2.
Miami’s defense definitely has a few holes, as Louisville exposed them for 34 points and 516 yards of total offense. Last year, Florida State put up just 10 points against Miami’s defense. James Blackman and company should be able to take advantage of a weaker defense and make the game a little bit more competitive.
Not only has D’Eriq King been a threat on offense for Miami, but running back Cam’Ron Harris has been on another level. Harris has rushed for 268 yards and three touchdowns in two games on just 26 carries.
Trends & Best Bet
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell will not be in attendance after contracting COVID-19. However, this does not change the fact that Florida State has had two full weeks to prepare for Miami.
Florida State is 0-4 ATS in their four games, and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games. Miami is 2-0 ATS this season, and 4-0 ATS in their last five conference games.
A 12-point spread is a lot of points to give up in a rivalry game, however, Florida State is having one of their worst stretches in program history. We know Miami’s offense will put up a lot of points against Florida State’s defense, but the Seminoles could surprise people with their offensive attack on Saturday night.

The over is 7-2 in Florida State’s last nine road games. Not to mention, the over is 8-3-1 in their last 12 games as an underdog.
The under has been the trend between these two teams recently. However, I am going to take the over. Miami’s offense is better than it has been in a long time and both defenses are weak. The Hurricanes will put up 30-40 points behind King and Harris. This means Florida State will just need to score three times, which is manageable.
Best Bet: Over 53.5 (-110)
