After a hot start to the season, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have struggled mightily.
Who remembers the play of Lamar Jackson the first two weeks of the season? In their season opener he lit up the Miami Dolphins for 324 yards to go along with 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He also had just 3 incomplete passes on the day. Ridiculous isn’t it?
Super Bowl 54 Odds
Teams | Odds |
---|---|
New England Patriots | +300 |
Kansas City Chiefs | +700 |
New Orleans Saints | +900 |
Green Bay Packers | +1200 |
Philadelphia Eagles | +1200 |
Los Angeles Rams | +1600 |
Dallas Cowboys | +2000 |
San Francisco 49ers | +2000 |
Seattle Seahawks | +2000 |
Baltimore Ravens | +2500 |
*Odds taken 10/7/19.
Jackson followed that up with another masterpiece. This time against the Arizona Cardinals. He threw for 272 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. What many observers weren’t giving much credit to was that it was against arguably the two worst teams in the entire NFL.
As the competition has grown, so have the struggles of Jackson. First it was a terrible showing against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3 where he barely completed 50 percent of his passes with no touchdowns. Then followed a blowout loss at the hands of Cleveland Browns where he once again played poorly.
Coming into Week 5 the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Odds were decent. The odds of them winning it all stood at +3067 before kickoff this past Sunday afternoon. Yet after another poor performance by Jackson they have actually improved. Yes you read that correctly, their odds of winning it all got better.
With just 161 yards through the air. One touchdown and three, yes three interceptions the Ravens have surprisingly improved to +2500 after an overtime win over the Steelers. For those who have backed the Ravens all season long, you should feel a sense of relief right? Oddsmakers are making your team one of the favorites to win the title even after three straight bad performances by your leader on the field.

However, for those who decided to lay down a few bucks on this team at the start of the season, they should be very concerned.
There is something to be said about a team that finds a way to win. Even with the issues they have been having on both sides of the ball, the Ravens are back in the win column and as of now, they have the lead in the AFC North.
With that being said however, Ravens backers should be very concerned at the moment.
The Road Gets Tougher
Following his two spectacular performances to start the season, Jackson was crowned as the next great quarterback. Many believed that he solved his throwing woes as well. What they bypassed in their analysis was the competition they faced.

From here on out, the Ravens have one of the most difficult schedules in the entire league. Other than two contests against the bottom feeding Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets, the Ravens have dates against the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots to name a few.
In short, Jackson and his Baltimore Ravens need to figure things out and fast.
Where to Put Your Money?
At +2500 that number sure seems enticing for a team that even with their flaws, is still a very good one. Making the playoffs shouldn’t be much of an issue but what will they do once they get there?
Nothing.
It just never seemed feasible that after just one season of barely being able to complete a pass down the field, that Jackson would instantly turn into Joe Montana. The young signal caller still has plenty of work to do.
They may seem like a solid bet to make some noise and lift the Joe Lombardi trophy at the end of the season but you will be sadly mistaken. The Ravens have no chance of winning it all this season.
