Chiefs vs Raiders Line Movement

Sunday night’s matchup marks the first meeting of the season between these AFC West divisional rivals. The Chiefs have held a clear upper hand when battling the Raiders in recent seasons, winning outright in 13 of 16 matchups since December 2012, and covering the spread 10 times during that stretch. However, these two teams split the season series in 2020, with the Raiders rewarding sports bettors with a pair of ATS wins, including a stunning 40-32 upset in win at Arrowhead Stadium as a lengthy 10.5-point underdog. With an average of 69 total points getting scored, the OVER paid out in each of last season’s contests, putting the brakes on a steady 7-2 run for the UNDER.

The Chiefs have made modest gains in the NFL Week 10 betting lines, climbing to 3-point favorites since opening at -2.5. The total has also been on the rise, and currently sits at 52.0 after opening at 51.0.

Kansas City Chiefs Outlook

The Chiefs arrive in Las Vegas riding their first two-game win streak of the season after eking out a narrow 13-7 win over the visiting Green Bay Packers last weekend. However, Kansas City still has plenty of work to do to rediscover their offensive touch. The squad has averaged just 12 points per game over their past three outings. In addition to maintaining a steady run for the UNDER, which has paid out in each of their past four outings, the Chiefs’ offensive woes have made them a shaky bet at the sportsbooks, where they have covered just twice this season, in lopsided October road victories over Philadelphia and Washington.

Now pegged as a faded +1200 bet in the Super Bowl odds, the two-time defending AFC champions could benefit from a return to form by quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The former Super Bowl MVP is currently enduring the toughest stretch of his NFL career, tossing for just two scores while averaging a meager 215 passing yards per game over his past three outings. However, a date with the raiders could prove to be a tonic for Mahomes, who has racked up 362 passing yards per game and connected for 10 TDs in three career road dates with the Raiders.

Las Vegas Raiders Outlook

The Raiders return home on the rebound after suffering a 23-16 upset loss to the New York Giants as 3-point road favorites. In addition to marking their second outright loss in their past three outings as betting chalk, the defeat also dumped the team’s ATS record to a meagre 2-4 over their past six overall outings. Despite those struggles, the Raiders have managed to maintain a share of the AFC West division lead. And despite last week’s debacle in the Big Apple, the Giants have enjoyed some moderate success shutting down opposing passers, who have connected four just four scores while averaging a mere 186.5 passing yards in four dates at Allegiant Stadium this season.

However, injuries have had an impact on the Raiders’ depth. Linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski is confirmed out of Sunday’s contest as he deals with an ankle injury. Cornerbacks Kelsean Nixon and Amik Robertson both remain doubtful after being DNP at practice throughout the week with ankle and hip injuries, respectively. And it also remains uncertain just how much action, if any, Desean Jackson will see. The veteran receiver joined the Raiders this week after the team released disgraced rookie wideout Henry Ruggs III.

The Pick: Chiefs -3 (-105)
