  • The Green Bay Packers host the Cleveland Browns Saturday night in Week 16 play
  • Last week’s prop picks: 3-0. Overall: 24-34, -4.73 units

After taking our bad beats week after week, we struck back with a perfect week, even nailing that Ryan Tannehill TD scoring prop.

Now that we’ve found our footing, it’s time to keep it going, and not make this a flash-in-the-pan kind of thing.

On tap this week: a showdown between the Cleveland Browns and Green Pay Packers.

While the home-side Pack are trying to clinch top seed in the NFC, the Browns are in a dogfight for one of the playoff spots in the AFC.

It’s so jumbled there are 13 teams at .500 or better, and not one team has clinched a berth yet in the conference.

Health is a major issue for Cleveland, who find themselves as 7.5-point underdogs on the road, as they  currently have 22 players in COVID protocols ahead of Saturday night’s matchup.

That’s a big reason why these player props are so sparse. No matter, there’s plenty of cash to be made, let’s get this!

Odds taken Dec 24 from DraftKings

Aaron Rodgers Passing Yards

There’s a chance that hulking defensive end Myles Garrett has to sit this one out for Cleveland, but he’s just one of many that could weaken a defense that has allowed only 216.1 passing yards per game, which ranks eighth-best in the NFL.

Even then, this seems a very low line for Aaron freaking Rodgers. Consider that the Packers’ pivot has crossed this total in five straight games, with his lowest output a 268-yard performance last game out on the road in a win against the Ravens.

Over that five game span, Rodgers has thrown for over 300+ yards three times, and he’s in the running to win his second consecutive MVP trophy as the Packers look to secure the top seed in the NFC. In fact, the only thing that doesn’t make him a clear cut favorite is probably that vaccine fiasco that forced him to miss a game.

Against a depleted defense, with real stakes for him personally and as a team? Expect Rodgers to make it six straight.

Pick:

  • Rodgers OVER 258.5 yards passing (1.5 units to win 1.31 units)

Aaron Jones Rushing Yards

Sticking with the Aaron’s, there’s an achievable number for Aaron Jones to surpass Saturday. Of course, there’s the timeshare backfield he has with bruiser AJ Dillon, but if you’re willing to accept some of that risk, the payoff could be sweet.

If last game is any indication, Jones is still the featured back, though it’s been muddled as he’s been ramping up his production since coming off a knee injury that forced him to miss a game.

Jones had 13 carries for 58 yards, earning six more totes than Dillon, who mustered 22 yards on his carries. Jones was on the field for 39 snaps to Dillon’s 23.

It was the first time in four games Jones has surpassed this game’s total.

The Brown’s bring a respectable run defense to the table — though, as we’ve mentioned before, will be compromised because of COVID — allowing 105.6 yards per game, which is good for ninth in the league. However, their last nine games, they’ve only held a back to under the total once.

Pick:

  • Jones OVER 49.5 yards rushing (1 unit to win 0.87 units)

Browns vs Packers TD Scorers

Thanks, as always, to our good friends at DraftKings for the insight into scoring props heading into the week.

For the Pack, Jones has scored at least one TD in seven of eight December games at Lambeau Field, while stud receiver Davante Adams has hauled in at least a score in each of Green Bay’s last three games as the betting favorite, and he’s tallied five TD’s in the last four games.

On the Cleveland side, Nick Chubb puts in work as an underdog — he has scored a major in six of his last seven appearances when the Browns are not favored. Tight end David Njoku has a TD in three of the Browns’ last four road games.

With uncertainty on the Cleveland side, let’s stick with a Green Bay unit that is churning out nearly 36 points per game over the last four.

Pick

  • Jones to score anytime TD (1.5 units to win 1.92 units)
