The numbers aren’t adding up for the Cleveland Browns of late and the math isn’t any better this week as they travel to Green Bay to face the Packers.

These two legendary NFL squads are clashing at Lambeau Field on Christmas Day in a game with playoff implications for both clubs. The 11-3 Packers are seeking to maintain the #1 seed in the NFL. At 7-7, the Browns are one game out of both an AFC Wild Card berth and first place in the AFC North.

Oddsmakers, though, are leaning heavily in favor of the Packers. Green Bay is a solid 7.5-point home favorite. The Packers are a perfect 6-0 against the spread at home this season.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 4:30pm ET. The weather forecast is solidly December in Green Bay. There will be cloudy skies, 6 mph wind and a temperature of 32 degrees. FOX Sports is carrying the broadcast.

Browns vs Packers Line Movement

There’s not much faith being cast on the side of the Browns in the public NFL betting trends for this game. In point spread wagering, just 13% of handle and 14% of bets are with Cleveland.

The moneyline is equally overwhelmingly on board with the Packers. There’s 80% of handle and a whopping 93% of bets backing the Pack. Total bettors are going for the over by a 2/1 margin. They are backing it through both the handle and bets at 66%.

Will Baker Be Cooking?

It’s feasible that Baker Mayfield will be available to start at quarterback for the Browns on Saturday. If he gets a negative COVID-19 test, he clears protocols in time for the game. However, two weeks will have elapsed since Mayfield was last on a practice field. It is wise to send him into one of the NFL’s harshest environments against the NFC’s best team?

It’s not as though Mayfield was lighting it up before he entered COVID protocols. Bothered all season by a shoulder in need of surgery, he’s thrown for 13 touchdowns against seven interceptions.

Mayfield’s inability to throw the deep ball is also allowing defenses to play closer to the line. That’s taking away the dangerous running threat offered by Nick Chubb.

Browns vs Packers Injury Report

Mayfield (shoulder/illness), backup QB Case Keenum (illness), wide receiver Jarvis Landry (illness), center JC Tretter (knee), left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr (illness), right defensive tackle Malik McDowell (illness), right defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (illness), strong safety Ronnie Harrison Jr (ankle), free safety John Johnson III (hamstring) and right cornerback Greg Newsome (concussion) are listed as out for Cleveland.

Left defensive end Myles Garrett (groin) and left defensive tackle Malik Jackson (knee) are questionable for the Browns.

The Packers are listing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (illness), left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) and right tackle Billy Turner (knee) as out.

Browns vs Packers Betting Trends

When the Browns won 26-24 at Green Bay on Sept. 18, 2005, it was Cleveland’s first-ever win at Lambeau Field. The Browns’ other road wins against the Pack – in 1956 and 1953 – were fashioned in games played at Milwaukee. Cleveland is 1-3 SU all-time at Green Bay.

Cleveland’s only previous December game at Green Bay was a 30-7 loss on December 23, 2001.  Overall, the Packers have won three straight for the Browns by a combined margin of 89-37.

Cleveland is 2-3 ATS as an away underdog this season. The Browns are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall and in their last five games at Green Bay.

Browns vs Packers Prediction

Not only are the Packers are perfect 6-0 straight up at Lambeau Field this season, they’ve been growing stronger as the season is progressing. The Pack has scored an average of 37 points in their current three-game win streak.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 13 TDs against 0 interceptions over the past four games. Meanwhile, the Browns could be missing their entire starting defensive line, as well as their first two QBs.
