Tuesday’s 16-game NHL slate is loaded with prop opportunities. I’ve pulled five plays from across the board: two best bets targeting shot volume and multi-point production, plus three anytime goalscorer picks on forwards who have been finding the net at a high rate early on.
Here are my NHL player props and anytime goalscorer picks for Tuesday, October 13.
All odds via theScore Bet (Ontario), BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, and Bet365 as of October 13th at 11:45 AM. New users can check the theScore Bet promo code page for sign-up offers.
NHL Player Props Today: Best Bets
Kyle Connor Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-117 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Connor has 27 shots on goal through five games (5.4 per contest) and has cleared 3.5 in four of them: 9, 5, 6 and 4. He’s logging 21:22 of average ice time per game and generating volume on nearly every shift.
Tonight’s NHL player-props matchup against Minnesota is favorable. The Wild are allowing 27.2 shots per game through six contests. At -115, this is standard juice on a number Connor has been blowing past regularly.
Nathan MacKinnon 2+ Points (+145 at theScore)
My MacKinnon points prop starts with his production: he has 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) through five games and has recorded multiple points in four of those contests (2, 3, 3 and 2). He’s also put 23 shots on goal, meaning he’s generating chances at a high rate and converting.
Dallas has allowed just 1.40 goals per game through five contests, which is the counterargument. But MacKinnon is the type of player who can beat any defense, and he’s already in the early Art Ross Trophy odds conversation. At +130, you’re getting plus-money on a multi-point game from one of the best players in hockey.
NHL Anytime Goalscorer Picks
Brandon Hagel to Score Against the Rangers (+155 at BetMGM)
My Hagel anytime goalscorer pick follows his four goals and four assists through five games, including a hat trick and an assist against the Islanders on October 10. He’s put 26 shots on goal (5.2 per game), so the volume is there every night.
Tampa Bay visits the Rangers, who have allowed 1.86 goals per game over seven contests. That’s a tough matchup on paper, but Hagel’s shot volume gives him a chance to break through. At +160, the anytime goalscorer price is fair for a forward shooting this aggressively.
Sebastian Aho to Score Against Washington ( +190 at theScore Bet)
Aho’s anytime goalscorer case starts with six goals in seven games and has scored in five of his last six. Three of his goals have come on the power play, including one against Washington on October 2. He’s put 24 shots on net across those seven games.
The Capitals are allowing 2.80 goals and 28.4 shots per game through five contests. At +190, this is a strong anytime goalscorer price on a player who’s been scoring at nearly a goal-per-game clip with a favorable matchup.
Nick Schmaltz to Score Against Toronto (+175 at Bet365)
My Schmaltz anytime goalscorer pick builds on six goals in six games, four of which came on the power play. He’s averaging 4.0 shots on goal per game (24 total) and has scored in five of his six outings.
Toronto allows 30.2 shots per game through six contests but runs a 95.0% penalty kill (19-for-20). The Leafs’ PK is strong, which limits the power-play angle. But Schmaltz has been scoring at even strength too, and his shot volume at +160 makes this anytime goalscorer play worth the price.
