On the one hand, the math is simple for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. If they beat the New York Giants, they clinch the NFC East Division title and are in the NFL playoffs. However, lose the game and things get more complicated.
At that point, the Eagles would be 8-8 and require help to reach the postseason. The Washington Redskins would need to defeat the Dallas Cowboys in order for Philly to be a playoff team. If the Cowboys win and the Eagles lose, Dallas takes the NFC East crown.
The topsy-turvy affair that is the NFC East might explain the split in wagers on this game. Sportsbooks show that 57% of all bets handled and 63% of all wagers taken are backing the Eagles.
However, a whopping 73% of sharp money has been placed on the Giants. Sportsbooks list Philadelphia as 3.5-point favorites in this game.

Eagles are Soaring
Sitting at 5-7, things looked bleak for Philadelphia’s postseason hopes. But while Dallas went 1-2, including a 17-9 loss last week at Philly, the Eagles rattled off three successive victories to take control of their own destiny.

Wentz threw for 325 yards when Philly beat the Giants 23-17 in Week 14, so these objectives are entirely doable.
During Philadelphia’s winning streak, and in reality, all season long when the team has succeeded, the Eagles grabbed an early lead and dominated time of possession. They were quickly up 10-0 last week against the Cowboys.
Philly is Ailing
Add tight end Zach Ertz to the long list Philadelphia receivers on the injury list. Ertz has a broken rib and a back injury. Ertz leads Philly in receptions (91), receiving yardage (952) and touchdowns (six).
The Eagles will also be without wide receiver Nelson Algohor (knee), while WR Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson are on injured reserve.

Phiadelphia needs another big game from back-up TE Dallas Goedert. He enjoyed a career day last week against his namesake. Goedert caught nine balls for 91 yards and a touchdown in the win over Dallas.
Barkley Sparks Giants
Two weeks ago, the Giants beat Miami with Eli Manning at QB and last week topped the Redskins with rookie Daniel Jones under center.
The true spark in this sudden surge is RB Saquon Barkley, who appears over his ankle injury. Last year’s NFL OROY has gone for 422 all-purpose yards the past two weeks.

The 4-11 Giants haven’t beaten a team with a winning record all season long and are 0-4 against teams currently holding playoff spots.

In a downpour against Arizona (27-21 loss), he was intercepted once, and fumbled twice. In a 31-13 loss in the snow at Green Bay, Jones was picked off three times.
Jones leads all NFL rookie QB with 23 TD passes but he’s also thrown 11 picks and lost 10 fumbles.
Eagles Own Giants
It’s easy to see why the public loves Philly. Straight up, the Eagles are 6-0 in their last six and 10-1 in their last 11 against the Giants. They are 10-2 SU and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 at New York.
At the same time, it’s understandable that the smart money likes the Giants. They’ve got nothing to lose. Both Jones, who threw for five TDs last week, and Barkley are hot.
