- The Dallas Cowboys won the NFC East in 2018
- Nick Foles departed Philadelphia in free agency, leaving Carson Wentz as the clear starting QB
- The Eagles are sizable favorites to win the 2019 divisional title
NFL Divisional Odds are out and the Philadelphia Eagles are favored to take the 2019 NFC East title.
2019 NFC East Odds
Team | Odds to win 2019 NFC East |
---|---|
Philadelphia Eagles | -125 |
Dallas Cowboys | +175 |
Washington | +800 |
New York Giants | +1200 |
*odds taken 4/22
The odds say this is a two-team race, and so do the rosters. Washington is without starting QB Alex Smith after a gruesome injury last year and the New York Giants probably wish they were without their starting QB Eli Manning.
This division comes down to the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. Who will win it? Here’s the case for the Eagles as a solid value play at -125.

Carson Wentz Makes The Eagles A Contender
Nick Foles has moved on and this is officially Carson Wentz’s team. When he’s healthy, he gives the Eagles not just the best quarterback in the division but one of the best in all of football. In 12 of the Eagles 16 games they’ll have a clear advantage at the QB position. His QB rating has been over 100 the past two years and he significantly raises the ceiling for this offense compared to Foles.

Forget what Donovan McNabb thinks. Get used to Wentz being the best QB in the NFC East by a wide margin. He’s the number one reason to love them to win the division this year.
Questions in Big D Raising Doubts
Ezekiel Elliott has been a dynamo since joining the league out of Ohio State. Last season, he led all running backs in yardage share at 36.38% but his days carrying that much of the offense could be in jeopardy.

He’s made a couple appearances this off-season and he doesn’t appear to be in the best shape. The internet has been buzzing with comparisons to Eddie Lacy. While that may be a stretch, it’s getting tougher and tougher to imagine Elliott leading the Cowboys to another division title like he did in 2018.
Speculation swirling about an extension for QB Dak Prescott also can’t help. He’s never been an elite quarterback and having an entire fanbase questioning if he’s really worth the money the team might fork over can’t possibly help.
Make the Value Play While It’s Available
The Eagles likely won’t be listed at -125 for long. They open the season with a relatively easy schedule and will be considerable favorites against the Washington, Atlanta, and Detroit in Weeks 1, 2 and 3. Assuming they win those games, the odds here are only going to get shorter. Jump on Philadelphia while the price is still reasonable.
PICK: PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (-125)
