Broncos Moneyline
Let’s be honest – even the most ardent Seahawks fans would have to agree they’re approaching tonight’s game with a healthy dose of skepticism, at least in terms of winning the game outright. The Broncos are 6.5-point road favorites. Seattle could probably keep it close for the first half or so, but asking them to go the whole distance is a bit of a tall task.
Russell Wilson returns to Seattle tonight in his first career regular season start with the Denver Broncos.

Seattle is expected to start a rookie 5th-round cornerback in Tariq Woolen, who they’re high on with his insane athleticism, but going up against a future Hall of Fame QB in your first game is a major undertaking.
Seahawks Under 18.5 Points
Geno Smith is a very fine quarterback and showed glimpses of being a lower-tier starter last season in his three starts when Russ was injured (five TDs, one INT in four total games), but he won’t be mistaken for Wilson anytime soon. There are limitations in his game, plus the ‘Hawks will be just the third team in the last 50 years to start a pair of rookie offensive tackles in week 1.

Though they’ve shown considerable promise, in particular Charles Cross, who was the ninth overall pick in the last draft, it’ll be a chore to stop Bradley Chubb and Randy Gregory. Not to mention Denver’s 2021 first-round selection Pat Surtain II, who could give Seattle fits.

Russell Wilson Over 249.5 Passing Yards
Admittedly this one is one that at first glance would surely come true – but diving deeper into the numbers creates a significant amount of pause. After starting last season with three straight 250+ yard efforts, Wilson was only able to accomplish that feat once in his final eleven contests.
Some of it, of course, had to do with injuring his finger and not looking like his normal self upon his return – but he had two really solid wins against Detroit and Arizona to close out the season, yet still went under 250 passing yards. Wilson appears to have been given the keys to the offense, as opposed to at times being reined in by the Seahawks. So he can definitely be considered in your Broncos vs Seahawks prop picks.
Rashaad Penny Anytime TD
It would stand to reason that Pete Carroll and Co. will try and run the ball to control the game – and they have just the RB to be the bell cow, as Rashaad Penny finished 2021 on an absolute tear.
STAYING’ HOME 💙💚
Seahawks and RB Rashaad Penny have reached a 1-year agreement to have the former first round pick stay home. He returns as the RB1 in Seattle. Penny finished the last 5 games of 2021 with:
• 654 rush yards
• 6 TDs
• 7.4 YPC #GoHawks #OurGuy pic.twitter.com/WuksP4jeIj— MR.Football👑 (@MRFootball604) March 20, 2022
Expect Seattle to run the ball often, particularly to try and keep their young offensive line stable and Geno upright. Penny’s monstrous final three games included four TDs and 495 yards on the ground.
Courtland Sutton Over 59.5 Receiving Yards
Should we hit on Russell Wilson’s over-passing yardage total earlier, it would stand to reason that his wideouts were hauling in big yardage. Courtland Sutton is a hulking 6’4″ target capable of big games. Much like Wilson’s end to 2021, however, he also wasn’t superb, eclipsing 60+ yards just once in the last 11 contests.
Courtland Sutton has the kind of skillset that meshes perfectly with Russell Wilson.
Sutton in 2021:
🏈 8th in air yards
🏈 2nd in ADOTSince rookie year, Russ has No.1 passer rating (111.1) on 15+ yard throws and has the thrown the third most touchdowns.
— Connor Ford (@ConnorFord__) September 12, 2022
With Tim Patrick out for the year (torn ACL), Wilson has one less mouth to feed on offense, so Sutton and Jerry Jeudy will get their fair share of targets.
