Betting Analysis

The New York Jets come into this game well rested following their bye week. In the game before, they had a signature victory, disposing of the Buffalo Bills 20-17. The outing before that, however, was the 22-17 loss at the hands of the Patriots.

New York is 4-0 in all four road games against the spread this season. Not only that, but they’ve also won each affair outright. In their last four overall battles, the under has hit each time.

As for the Patriots, they too are coming off their bye week, and have won four of five overall, making this game very tight, as evidenced by the -3.5 line for the Pats. New England is 1-4 against the spread in their last five meetings with AFC East rivals.

The Jets have the 10th best team according to Pro Football Focus (a struggling 30th on offense, but the best defense). Their counterparts are middle of the road at 17th overall (19th on offense and 12th on D).

Injury Report

Both teams aren’t dealing with a slew of injuries but some of their players have been ruled out. For the Jets, that includes DT Sheldon Rankins and WR Corey Davis. TE Kenny Yeboah is doubtful, and offensive linemen Nate Herbig is questionable.

The Patriots have listed just one player who won’t participate, that being DL Christian Barmore (knee). Punter Jake Bailey is doubtful, with a trio of players questionable (LB Anfernee Jennings, WR DeVante Parker and LB Josh Uche).

63% of the bets have been placed for the Jets to cover the 3.5 point spread, with 57% of bets on the over in Jets vs Patriots NFL betting trends, with 69% of the handle placed on New York to pull off the upset on the moneyline.

Jets vs Patriots Prediction

At least historically, it’s hard to see the Jets coming out of this game with a victory against the Patriots, given they’ve lost 22 of last 24 regular season tilts between the two clubs.

These aren’t your father’s Jets though, as they’ve proven they can go on the road and rack up victories this season in impressive fashion. Getting 3.5 points for them is a solid line for a much improved team under Robert Saleh.

The Pick:

  • New York Jets (+3.5); 2 units to win 1.82 units

2022 record: 13-14; -0.11 units
