The New England Patriots took care of business on Sunday when they disposed of the Washington Redskins 33-7. The Patriots have now opened up as a 15.5-point favorites as they host the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football.

But, according to the New York Giants vs New England Patriots odds & stats, the line is already up to -16. Is it worth it to lay the points with the Pats or is there value with the Giants?

Patriots Easily Handle Redskins

The Patriots had a bit of a sleepy start against the Redskins as they trailed 7-0 – their first time trailing this season – but that didn’t last long. They would end up scoring the final 33 points of the game en route to their 33-7 victory.

Quarterback Tom Brady had a good bounce back game after struggling against the Buffalo Bills the week before. He finished the day with 348 passing yards, three touchdowns and just one interception. The Patriots were held under 30 points for the first time against Buffalo in Week 4, but they got over that mark against Washington.

As for the defense, the Patriots had one bad play where they gave up a 65-yard touchdown run. Outside of that, they held the Redskins to just 155 total yards the rest of the game.

Giants, Jones Come Back to Earth

There was a lot of optimism surrounding the Giants after they had won two in a row – the first two starts of Daniel Jones’ career. That magic didn’t carry over to Week 5, though, as they were easily handled 28-10. Jones had a bit of a rough game, going 21-of-38 for 182 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The issue proved to be the Giants defense, which was gashed for 490 yards by the Minnesota Vikings and Kirk Cousins, who had really been struggling. The Giants also weren’t able to run the ball as they finished the day with just 64 yards on the ground.

Will Barkley Play?

Saquon Barkley has been dealing with a high-ankle sprain that was supposed to keep him out for four-to-eight weeks. However, recent reports suggest that he’s getting closer to play and could return for Week 6. That would give this Giants a big boost as they need another spark. They were flat in Week 5.

However, the Giants are a 15.5-point road dog and may decide to keep him out for one more week. They’ll have an easier game in Week 7 when the Arizona Cardinals visit.

What’s The Best Bet?

At this point, I’m not betting against the Patriots. Not only is their offense still effective, as per usual, their defense is among the best in the league. The Patriots have allowed a total of 34 points this season. The Giants allow 25 per game and that average is greatly being helped by the three they gave up to Washington last week.

Bill Belichick is known as being good at confusing young quarterbacks and he’s got another one Thursday. Jones will struggle, the Patriots should face little resistance moving the ball. New England should glide to another win and cover.
