How Does the NFL Playoff Bracket Work?
The NFL playoff bracket includes seven teams from the NFC and seven teams from the AFC, with the winner of each conference meeting in Super Bowl 60. The top team from each conference (this year, the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC and Denver Broncos in the AFC) receive a bye to the divisional round. The six remaining teams in each conference play in three Wild-Card Round games in order to set up the eight-team Divisional Round.
Teams are re-seeded in the Divisional Round, so the Seahawks will host the worst-remaining seed in the NFC in the Divisional Round and the Broncos will host the worst-remaining seed in the AFC.
The better seed will host each matchup until the Super Bowl, which will take place at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco on Sunday, February 8th, 2026.
NFL Playoff Schedule for 2026
The 2026 NFL playoffs will start on Saturday, January 10th, with a pair of Wild-Card games. Wild-Card weekend will wrap up on Monday, January 12th, before the Divisional Round on the next Saturday/Sunday (January 17th and 18th).
The semifinals will take place on January 25th. The conference champs will then get a bye week before the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 8th, 2026.
