The Los Angeles Rams play host to the New Orleans Saints Sunday. It’s the first meeting of these two NFC superpowers since last season’s NFC Championship Game.

Even though the Rams are listed as two-point favorites in the New Orleans Saints vs Los Angeles Rams odds, the Saints look to have a lot going for them.

For starters, there’s the revenge factor. The Saints feel they were jobbed out of the NFC title last January by a blown pass interference call.

Saints vs Rams Week 2 Betting Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Over/Under
New Orleans Saints +105 +2 (-109) Over 52.0 (-109)
Los Angeles Rams -125 -2 (-109) Under 52.0 (-109)

*Odds taken 09/14/19

On top of all that, the Saints are 3-0 straight up and against the spread in the last three games in which they’ve been an underdog.

Remember the NFC Championship

That’s the rallying cry of the Saints. But if revenge is a dish best served cold, then New Orleans could be in trouble.

Based on the fashion statement many Saints fans made during last week’s season-opening triumph over the Houston Texans, the wound remains fresh. And it may be infected.

The bad news for New Orleans is that NFC Championship rematches the following season don’t tend to go to the vanquished.

Last season, the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles squared off again with the Minnesota Vikings and were toppled 23-21. That was just the second time in the last 10 NFC Championship Game rematches that the losing team was a winner the second time around.

Follow the Bouncing Rams-Saints Trend

On the one hand, New Orleans hasn’t beaten the Rams in Los Angeles since the 1994 season. On the other hand, the Saints have only played the Rams in Los Angeles once since 1994.

This will be the fifth meeting between the Rams and Saints following the former’s return to LA. And based on the four previous meetings, it bodes well for New Orleans.

The Saints won straight up and against the spread in the first and third games. In both of those games, the total went over.

However, Games 2 and 4 went the way of the Rams. LA won and covered both times, and in each of those games, the under was the winning play.

Based on that trend, meeting #5 should see the Saints win outright and ATS and the total go over.

Then again, the last time these two teams met in LA, the Rams won 26-20 as the 2.5-point chalk.

Noteworthy Saints Trends

The bright lights of LA have turned many Saints down the wrong path, and the ones from New Orleans are no different.

New Orleans is 0-5 ATS in the last five road games against the Rams. Overall, the Saints are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 against the Rams.

They’re also 2-4 SU in their last six when facing the Rams.

Noteworthy Rams Trends

LA is 5-1 both SU and ATS in the last six games. The Rams are 5-0 ATS in their last five when facing NFC opposition. And they are 6-0 SU in September.

They’re also 8-1 SU in their last nine home games.

Mardi Gras In LA

New Orleans is traveling to the West Coast on a short week. That’s generally a recipe for disaster but not in the case of the Saints. They’re 8-4 ATS in the scenario since 2015, and an NFL-best +6.0 ATS plus-minus.

The juju and the mojo are with New Orleans. The Saints will have their revenge.

Pick: New Orleans Saints [+105, +2 (-109), over 52 (-109)]
