The Seahawks playoff hopes are still alive, but it will take a small miracle in order for their season to continue past this week. Seattle needs a win over the Rams, plus a Lions victory over the Packers to secure the final NFC Wild Card. On the surface that seems doable, until you look closer.

A Seahawks win would eliminate Detroit from postseason contention, therefore giving the Lions nothing to play for (aside from pride of course) on Sunday Night Football in Green Bay. At this point, all Seattle can do is take care of business on Sunday afternoon, and let the chips fall where they may.

LA meanwhile, has been reduced to playing the role of spoiler for quite some time now, and would love nothing more than to end their divisional rival’s season. It will take a big game from Baker Mayfield and Co. to accomplish the feat, and when Mayfield does take to the air expect plenty of looks for Tyler Higbee.

Higbee currently boasts a receiving yards over/under of 32.5, which is five yards less than teammate Van Jefferson’s. As of Saturday afternoon, very few Rams vs Seahawks player props are available, as injuries to both pass catching corps have created a murky situation.

LAR vs SEA Prop #1: Tyler Higbee Over 32.5 Receiving Yards

Higbee has created a nice on field rapport with Mayfield, scoring three times in Baker’s four starts. For context, that’s three more TD than Higbee had through the first 12 games of the season. He’s hauled in 18 catches in Mayfield’s four outings, boasting a 78% reception rate.

Higbee has had a down season compared to 2021, but there’s still time to salvage it. The tight end can trigger a 500K bonus with just 13 receiving yards in Week 18, and should have no problem eclipsing that and his 32.5 yard receiving prop versus this Seattle defense.

No team in the NFL has given up more production to enemy tight ends than the Seahawks. Seattle averages 67.6 receiving yards allowed to the position per game, and a 63.5% reception rate.

Pick: Tyler Higbee Over 32.5 Receiving Yards (-115), 1 unit

LAR vs SEA Prop #2: Geno Smith Under 242.5 Passing Yards

The let Geno cook narrative has died down quite a bit since his incredible start to the season. Smith has thrown for less than 240 yards in three straight outings, averaging under 6.0 yards per attempt during that stretch.

Yes, he lit up the LA secondary the last time he faced them, but that was only after stud rookie RB Kenneth Walker III went down. Walker is back and healthy, and the Seahawks have been leaning heavily on him. He’s racked up back-to-back 100+ yard games, earning 49 carries along the way.

Geno Smith Last 3 Starts

ATT-CMP YDS TD INT
18-29 183 2 0
25-40 215 1 1
31-44 238 1 0

Seattle is averaging 28 rushing attempts over its past three games, and we should expect another run-heavy approach as 6-point favorites in this matchup. That will reduce Smith’s volume and the fact that Tyler Lockett is operating at far less than 100% is just another reason to fade Geno on Sunday.

Pick: Geno Smith Under 242.5 Passing Yards (-115), 1 unit

As far as the anytime TD market goes, Walker is the overwhelming favorite at -150. He’s failed to score in four straight contests, but Seattle’s renewed commitment to the run game makes him an appealing target.

LAR vs SEA Prop #3: Kenneth Walker III Anytime TD

Another reason to like Walker to score, is the Seahawks preference to lean on him in the red zone. Walker ranks fourth in the NFL in red zone carries, despite playing just 14 games and spending the first month of the season as a backup to Rashaad Penny.

By the numbers the matchup may look imposing, but most of those Rams rushing defense stats came with Aaron Donald in the lineup. Without Donald, this defense is a shell of its former self. They coughed up 192 rushing yards last week to the Chargers, and have allowed four rushing TD in their last three games.

Pick: Kenneth Walker III Anytime TD (-150), 1 unit
