Fresh off a big win over the New York Giants, the Minnesota Vikings are early favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6. Philly is off their own dominating win over the New York Jets too.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Minnesota Vikings odds & stats list the Vikings as 3-point favorites at home. This battle of 3-2 squads could go either way. Both teams are experienced and talented but they’re still finding themselves this season. Minnesota’s odds are -166 and the Over/Under is set at 44.

Minnesota Pulls It Together in Week Five

Minnesota dealt with their own internal drama headed into the 28-10 win over the Giants as quarterback Kirk Cousins got called out by Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs who were both publicly displeased with their QB.

The Vikings rose above that in New York. Cousins threw no interceptions, two touchdowns and over 300 passing yards. Dalvin Cook carved the defense up with 132 rushing yards on 21 carries and six receptions for 86 receiving yards. Thielen also put up monster numbers with 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns versus the Giants.

Minnesota’s defense did their thing too. Anthony Barr got an interception while Danielle Hunter got two sacks and Everson Griffin chipped in one. Their defense is ranked No. 4 in points and scoring per game.

Philadelphia Dominates Too

Philadelphia destroyed the New York Jets 31-6 at home. Brandon Graham registered three sacks while the offense was lead by Zach Ertz and Jordan Howard.

Howard finished with 62 rushing yards and a touchdown while Ertz caught Carson Wentz’s lone touchdown pass and 57 receiving yards total versus the Jets.

The Eagles’ defense is ranked No. 10 in total yards per game and 14th in scoring per game. Expect a physical game centered around the running games. That is where Minnesota thrives, especially at home.

Is There Value in Betting on the Vikings?

The spread could easily move more in favor of the Vikings at home after a flashy win. Both the Vikings and Eagles dominated a New York team in Week 5 with the balance on offense and a strong defensive effort.

Minnesota’s win last week might have been a little more impressive stat-wise. However, the Vikings last three wins were against the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders and New York Giants. The Raiders are their best quality victory. Otherwise, they lost to the Packers and Bears.

For Philly, they beat the Packers but also lost to the Falcons and Lions. That shows inconsistencies but it also shows a team improving.

Don’t forget, the Eagles could see Desean Jackson return next week. He adds another dimension on offense with his speed by stretching the field and opening up everything underneath. Pay attention to his updates this week.

Still, this game should be close with two quality NFC defenses facing off. Neither offense is ranked particularly high so don’t expect a shootout. Philadelphia has the edge at quarterback though which helps in the fourth quarters of games.

The Eagles beat the same team in Green Bay in Week 4 that the Vikings lost to in Week 2. Wentz led his fifth career game comeback win versus the Pack and he can find himself with another comeback this week in Minnesota.

That means there is some value on the Eagles right now. Philadelphia could easily upset the Vikings, especially if Jackson returns. The Eagles have real value over the Vikings this week as three-point underdogs.
