The Boston Bruins simply can’t be stopped.

Sure it wasn’t as convincing as you may have expected from the NHL’s top team, but the Bruins beat the Canucks on Saturday for their sixth-straight win. Boston now has 95 points this season. It continues to look like a formality that they’ll claim the President’s Trophy.

Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers continue to struggle to find consistency.

Edmonton is 2-2 over their last four games, but 2-5 over their last seven. They’ll look for their fifth win in their last 10 games when they host Boston on Monday.

Bruins vs Oilers Odds

Game Time (ET) Team Puck Line Total Moneyline
Monday, February 27th Boston Bruins -1.5 (+176) Ov 6.5 (-120) -137
8:30 PM Edmonton Oilers +1.5 (-220) Un 6.5 (-102) +114

The Bruins open up as -137 favorites on the third game of their four-game road trip. They’re 36-22 against the spread this season, while the Oilers are 32-28. Unsurprisingly, the over has hit in 40 of Edmonton’s games this year. It helps when you ice two of the NHL’s leading scorers.

Currently, Boston sits atop the Stanley Cup odds at +500. Edmonton sits 10th, but that could change depending on whether or not they can stick in the top three in the Pacific Division.

McDavid, Draisaitl Can’t Make Oilers Consistent

It’s amazing to see that, following Saturday’s action, there is a 23-point difference between the Oilers and Bruins.

Sure Boston’s David Pastrnak is fourth in points and second in goals. But Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are first and second in points, and first and fifth in goals. McDavid has a 30-point lead on Pastrnak.

But the Oilers still struggle.

McDavid, Draisaitl Over Last Seven Games

McDavid
VS
Draisaitl
6 Goals 7
10 Assists 3
6 Power Play Points 7
2 Shorthanded Points 0
39 Shots 23
15% Shooting Percentage 30%

Saturday’s game against Columbus was McDavid’s third straight with at least three points. He had seven shots.

The Oilers trailed 4-0 and scored four unanswered to tie things up in the second. The fact they lost that game against the bottom-feeding Blue Jackets is a perfect encapsulation of their season. It was also their first time losing a game where McDavid had three or more points.

Edmonton was 15-0 before that when he recorded at least three points. Without those 15 wins the Oilers would have just 17 victories.

Over Almost Automatic for Oilers

While their high-scoring offense doesn’t always equal a win, it is good for something — the total.

The last time Edmonton played in a game that featured fewer than six goals was February 9th. Seven of those eight games have actually seen at least eight goals scored.

Simply put, the combination of Stuart Skinner and Jack Campbell hasn’t gotten it done for the Oilers. The team has a .899% save percentage and 3.18 goals against average.

Skinner has been the better of the two. He only gave up two goals on 12 shots in relief on Saturday, and has given up two goals or fewer in three of his last four starts.

Boston can play run and gun when they have to, but that doesn’t happen often. They’ve allowed a league-low 124 goals against, giving up more than two goals just once in their last eight.

If there is a team that can put an end to Edmonton’s ridiculous run of goal-scoring, it’s the Bruins.

Bruins vs Oilers Pick

One of my favorite parlays is Draisaitl to score and Connor McDavid to record an assist. As the season has progressed and their numbers have gotten even more ridiculous, McDavid’s assist totals have moved to 1.5, and his point total has been bumped to 2.5 at some books.

You can still get value on packaging them together, but today we’ll look somewhere else.

Bruins vs Oilers Same Game Parlay

Pick Odds
David Pastrnak to score anytime -112
Brad Marchand to score anytime +165
PARLAY ODDS +400

Regardless of what the final score is, the Oilers will give up plenty of chances to the Bruins. Pastrnak and Marchand are the two favorites to score for Boston, so +400 is a nice combo if both light the lamp.

Despite the fact Edmonton could give up seven on their own, the under is the play here. If anyone can shut down McDavid and Draisaitl it’s the Bruins, and if all three events come true that’s +1600 odds you’re looking at.

The Pick: Under 6.5 (-102)
