Boston Bruins Betting Analysis
The Boston Bruins rolled into the All-Star Break after stopping the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 last Wednesday. Pavel Zacha scored twice in their first meeting earlier in the season against Washington.
Tomas Nosek (lower body) attempted to skate one time during the Boston Bruins break and it did not go well, per Jim Montgomery. They are going to give him more time to heal up. No confirmation of when DeBrusk will return, but the hope is one of the road games next week

Usually, teams come out rusty in these types of matchups. Boston has been almost automatic at home this season with a record of 22-1-3. The magic number for Boston boils down to three goals. If the Bruins score three or more times, they are a whopping 37-2-3. Boston endured a slight bump in the road but is still 7-2-1 over their past ten contests.
David Pastrnak leads the way in the goal-scoring department. His six goals and eight helpers in the previous ten games has buoyed the Boston attack. The Jennings Trophy-leading Bruins allowed a mere 19 goals during that span. Linus Ullmark expects to get the nod on Saturday afternoon fully rested. Boston is almost at full strength which cannot be good for Washington.
Washington Capitals Betting Analysis
The Washington Capitals tread water but are seeing the playoff bubble get precarious to say the least. Washington headed into their “break” winning four out of the last ten tilts, getting outscored 32-25, and looking battered.
The Capitals miss a considerable chunk of talent. Nicklas Backstrom remains not in the best form after hip surgery. John Carlson expects to be out longer. Tom Wilson, Carl Hagelin, and Nic Dowd nursing maladies as well does not help Washington’s cause.

The Capitals’ offense gets tamed without John Carlson and Tom Wilson. It is those injuries that make Washington easier to match up with. Unfortunately, the Capitals need to get healthy. This team appears to be a shell of its former self. Washington shows flashes of a contending team at times.
Worse, not having a 100% Nicklas Backstrom wrecks the power play further. Special teams persist as an issue. Odds to win the Vezina Trophy are out the window when it comes to the Capitals. Darcy Kuemper lengthened to +10000. Meanwhile, Boston’s Linus Ullmark still is the favorite at -175. Even Kuemper struggled heading into the break, dropping three of his last four outcomes.
Goaltending becomes adventurous, as the defense is not 100% along with the offense.

Capitals vs Bruins Prediction
Now, the Capitals play their first game in February which is 11 days into the month. The extra time helps both teams heal. Washington needs its big players (Carlson and Wilson) back as soon as possible. However, that is not in the cards.
Capitals vs Bruins Same-Game Parlay Picks
Pick | Odds |
---|---|
Boston Moneyline | -190 |
Under 6.0 Goals | -105 |
PARLAY ODDS | Â +195 |
The nationally televised game features a lot of unknowns and uncertainty. Washington and Boston practiced, but game shape is a different story. There lies room for a bit of latitude.
Boston keeps averaging more than 3.5 goals per game, even slowed down a bit offensively. The Capitals getting to three goals is becoming more and more of a chore lately. This looks risky, but both teams should score five or fewer goals combined on Saturday afternoon.
Capitals vs Bruins Pick: Under 6.0 Goals (-105)
