It’s another packed Saturday of hockey with 13 games and 26 teams in action. There are four early matchups being played in the NHL on Saturday, October 22nd, with the rest of the games being scheduled at 7:00 pm ET or later.

While some of the usual suspects like Connor McDavid and Artemi Panarin have got off to blistering starts in the points department, Auston Matthews, the Rocket Richard Trophy odds favorite, has just one goal from his first five games. This after he buried 60 last season. Will he come to life this Saturday against the Jets?

We look at the odds on player props for some of the biggest superstars in the game on Saturday night below. After some analysis, we’ll give you our best bets and prediction for which players we expect the most from.

Let’s take a look at all the best player prop wagers for Saturday’s NHL action.

Vladimir Tarasenko Shots on Goal

Vladimir Tarasenko is in the last year of an eight-year contract, so he’s playing to get paid next season. That extra motivation means he’ll be looking to pad his stats and as a goal scorer, take a lot of shots.

The Blues sniper had four shots on goal in his two games so far this season. While the Blues are road underdogs against the Oilers Saturday afternoon, expect them to pepper the net with shots.

Edmonton has never been known for good defensive play in the McDavid era and have allowed an average of over 35 shots against per game in their four games this year. I’d expect more of the same against St. Louis and Tarasenko to be firing a lot of that rubber on net. He had two goals in three games against the Oilers last season.

Mitch Marner Over/Under Points

By his own standards, Mitch Marner has had a slow start to the season with four points in five games. In the Leafs last contest against Dallas, he was held off the scoresheet entirely. Including the playoffs, you have to go back to mid-March of last year to find the last time the Leafs’ playmaker went pointless in back-to-back outings.

Bring in the Winnipeg Jets as the perfect opponent for Marner to break out against. Last season, Marner had three apples in his only game against the Jets. For his career, he’s played 17 games against Winnipeg and only went pointless in two of those games. He’s gotten at least a point in 88% of his games against the Jets.

Last season, the Leafs and Jets combined for 19 goals in their two head-to-head matchups, so expect a lot of goals in this game and at least a couple points for Marner.

Cale Makar Anytime Goal Scorer

For our last bet prediction, we’re looking to cash in on some juicy odds. It’s never easy to pick a defenseman to score, but if you are, it doesn’t hurt to bet on the second coming of Bobby Orr. Okay, that might be a bit much, but what Cale Makar has done in his young career is nothing short of incredible.

The favorite to be a repeat winner in the Norris Trophy odds, Makar has five helpers this year, but has yet to bury a goal of his own.

Last year, the Avs defenseman scored more goals on the road than at home, with 16 of his 28 tallies coming away from Colorado. Having played 37 road games, the dynamic blueliner averaged a goal every 2.3 games on the road last year. We expect Makar to end the mini-goal slump Saturday in Vegas against the Golden Knights.
