Panthers NHL Betting Outlook & Stanley Cup Odds Movement
Nine games into the season, the Panthers (8-0-1)Â have yet to lose in regulation. Florida was +1800 to win the Stanley Cup as recently as Oct. 14. Today, the Panthers are the second betting choice in the Stanley Cup odds at +700.
Florida is as deep in skilled forwards as any NHL team. Aleksander Barkov is on the verge of superstardom. Jonathan Huberdeau, Anthony Duclair, Sam Bennett, and Sam Reinhart are all dangerous with the puck.

Florida utilizes this high-end skill to drive possession. The Panthers’ 56.0 shot attempts percentage leads the NHL. On defense, Aaron Ekblad and MacKenzie Weegar are as good a pairing as there is in the league. Two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky (6-0-0, 1.81 GAA, .944 save percentage) and rookie Spencer Knight (2-0-1, 1.95 GAA, .929 save percentage) are a sensational 1-2 punch between the pipes.
The only concern facing the Panthers is behind the bench. Three-time Stanley Cup winner Joel Quenneville tendered his resignation last week over his involvement in the Chicago Blackhawks sexual assault scandal. He was coach of the Blackhawks from 2008-19.
Assistant coach Andrew Brunette was promoted to interim coach, his first NHL head coaching gig. The Panthers must decide if he’s the answer, or whether they need to bring in an outside coach.
Hurricanes NHL Odds Movement & Betting Analysis
Following another disappointing early playoff exit, the Hurricanes gutted their goaltending. Petr Mrazek, Alex Nedeljkovic, and James Reimer were all sent packing. In came free agent Frederik Andersen from Toronto, and the early returns are indicating that he’s solidifying the major concern in the Carolina lineup.
Andersen is 7-0-0, with a 1.29 GAA and .956 save percentage and is still being offered at a great price in the Vezina Trophy odds. He’s playing behind perhaps the NHL’s deepest defense, a group headed by Jaccob Slavin, Brent Pesce and Brady Skjei. Free-agent addition Tony DeAngelo is supplying the offense lost by the departure of Dougie Hamilton.

Like Florida, Carolina runs deep in skilled forwards.  Jordan Staal, Vincent Trocheck, Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen are stellar.
Coaching isn’t a concern for the Canes. Rod Brind’Amour is firmly entrenched behind the bench and brings a structure that the players embrace fervently.
The Hurricanes are 8-0. Carolina opened at +2500 in the Stanley Cup odds. Today, the Hurricanes are the eighth betting choice in this market at +1500.
Vegas’ NHL Odds & Disappointing Start
A little over two weeks ago, the Golden Knights were the second betting choice to win the Stanley Cup at +700. They’ve slipped to third in this betting market at +900.
With just eight points from a 4-4 start, Vegas is riddled with key injuries among the club’s goal producers. Captain Mark Stone is out. Max Pacioretty will miss six weeks. Alex Tuch is out until January following offseason shoulder surgery. Moreover, William Karlsson is out for 4-6 weeks with a broken foot. The Golden Knights take on the Leafs on November 2nd as +180 underdogs in the NHL odds.
Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty, Alex Tuch, Alec Martinez and Zach Whitecloud accounted for 74 of the team’s 191 goals last season — 39%. With them out, you can see why the scoring has dried up

The Golden Knights are paying for their decision to go for it right from the outset as an expansion franchise in 2017-18. Trading draft picks to stockpile veterans, they don’t have the necessary depth to combat such a rash of injuries.
