  • Joe Biden continues to struggle on the campaign trail as he was just busted plagiarizing again
  • Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s buzz has begun to fade

Elizabeth Warren’s Democratic Party Presidential nomination odds continue to improve. She’s jumped up from +1400 on May 13th to +1100 on June 5th. She’s done a good job of standing out in a crowded field, but is she a good bet at this point?

Warren Finds a Way to Stand Out

With over 20 nominees in the field, it’s been tough for the nominees to stand out. Sure, Beto O’Rourke and Mayor Pete, and Andrew Yang have had their moments, but for the most part, nobody has really sustained their buzz. Nobody, that is, except Warren.

She continues to come up with logical, reasonable ideas for the country in terms of education and healthcare. While most of it won’t ever come to fruition unless Democrats hold the presidency, senate and house, at least she’s connecting with voters and telling them things they want to hear. That’s far better than what many other candidates are doing.

Warren is connecting with voters and telling them things they want to hear. That’s far better than what many other candidates are doing.

Even FOX News’ Tucker Carlson partially praised Warren and her economic plan – not something you’d expected – so it goes to show you just how much her voice is resonating. She has a really long way to go but so far, so good.

Biden is Stumbling… Already

One of the reasons I have no faith in Joe Biden even winning his own party’s nomination, let alone the Presidency in 2020, is the fact that he’s an awful candidate. The idea of Joe Biden is a good one. In reality, we know that he campaigns terribly and he’s already showing it.

Biden has a sizable lead at this point and literally just has to avoid mistakes to win. Instead, he’s already tripping all over himself. As you might recall, Biden’s Presidential run in 1988 was snuffed out because he plagiarized content for his speeches. You’d figure he’s learned his lesson and – of all people – would never make a mistake like that again.

Unfortunately not. On Wednesday, Biden was again busted plagiarizing, stealing word-for-word from progressive thinktanks, which was in relation to his new climate change plan. He could have simply quoted them and earned credit doing that. Instead, his campaign plagiarized, which is an ugly look.

And that’s just one of two scandals he’s already dealing with. The other was something that he “misheard”, which was a question from a woman about abortions rights. Apparently Biden, who is on the left, isn’t in full support of abortion and women’s rights, which has earned him plenty of backlash.

Biden was asked a question about the Hyde amendment, which bans Federal funding for abortions, and he said he did support the law. Almost every nominee on the left who is running came out and slammed Biden.

As we move through the campaigning and into the debates, I expect Biden to continue to make slip ups like this. This is just who he is.

Mayor Pete’s Buzz Has Faded

Mayor Pete Buttigieg is still third in most polls, but he’s fading a little. The excitement surrounding him has plateaued a little bit. When you combine that with Biden’s stumbles, Warren has been able to make a rise in the standings.

Warren Starting to Look Like a Good Bet

Would I bet Warren to win the Presidency in 2020? No. Is it starting to look like she knows how to run a very solid campaign and has very good ideas that appeal to the Democrats? Yes. I’m still skeptical of her winning the nomination as she’s further left than most would like in the party.

At the same time, she’s doing an excellent job and I expect her to continue to climb the more she gets a chance to speak. She’s a real threat, so I’d take a flier on her here.
