Why Was the UK Not Part of Travel Ban?

One big question a lot of people had when Trump announced the travel ban, was why is the UK not a part of it?

“We will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days,” Trump said, not mentioning the United Kingdom.

One of Trump’s closest friends in Nigel Farage seemed to have an idea as to why the United Kingdom was not part of the travel ban to Europe.

He tweeted: ‘Drastic but necessary measures. The UK is now treated as an independent country,” he said. Farage sent another tweet saying: “The actions of governments across Europe show the concept of solidarity, so championed by the EU and their globalist friends, now counts for nothing. We are all nationalists now.”

It seems like Trump is viewing the United Kingdom as their own country. Which could very well be the reason why they were not part of the travel ban.

The reaction was mixed on these announcements but Donald Trump gave a clear reason why he announced the travel ban.

“I don’t want people dying. That’s what I’m all about,” the president told reporters one day after announcing a 30-day ban on foreign visitors from most of Europe to fight the pandemic (via Politico). “I made a very tough decision last night and a very tough decision a long time ago with respect to China,” Trump said. “I don’t want people dying, and that’s why I made these decisions.”

Donald Trump says he doesn’t care how this will affect the stock market as he is focused on life and death. So, for the time being, travel bans are in place and it wouldn’t be surprising to see more come up.

What Country is the Best Bet to Receive Next Travel Ban?

Although Donald Trump left the United Kingdom off their initial travel ban, it seems likely they will be the next country to receive one.

Currently, the UK has an estimated 456 cases. But, that easily could be more, given more and more cases are being reported by the minute. With Trump focused on keeping people alive, it may be a necessary step to add the UK to the travel ban. Especially, with him believing a lot of the cases have come from Europe.

So, if you are going to bet, the best bet appears to be the odds-on favorite of the UK.

Pick: United Kingdom (-200)
