  • Antonio Conte’s side beat AC Milan 4-2 on Sunday while Juventus lost to Verona, leaving both Inter and Juve tied for first with 54 points
  • Lazio also won and now sit just one point behind the joint league-leaders
  • Who’s currently the best bet to lift the Coppa Campioni d’Italia by the season’s end?

It was an exciting weekend in Italian Football as the fight for top spot continues to remain tight. After going down 2-0 in the first half of the Milan Derby, Inter surged back and bagged four goals in the second period, topped off by a Romelu Lukaku goal in injury time to secure the full three points.

In other fixtures, Juventus suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Verona, which now leaves Maurizio Sarri’s squad and Inter tied atop the table. Lazio continues to impress as well, beating Parma 1-0. They continue to stay in the fight for a Serie A title, currently sitting on 53 points.

Inter had +340 Serie A odds at the end of January but now have an average of +207 according to the sportsbooks thanks to their impressive form.

Inter Continue to Impress This Term

Conte’s squad haven’t lost since December 10th when Barcelona knocked them out of the Champions League group stage. Since then, Inter has played to numerous draws, while winning their last three matches. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are the ultimate dynamic duo in the final third and form arguably the most electric partnership in Serie A. Lukaku has bagged 17 goals, while Martinez has found the net 11 times this season. Those two alone have accounted for 28 of Milan’s 48 goals in league play.

Their midfield and backline have also been extremely solid, conceding a Serie A-low 20 goals in 23 matches. Inter’s defensive trio of Stefan De Vrij, Milan Skriniar, and Diego Godin have done a remarkable job of containing oppositions in their own end.

With January signings Christian Eriksen and Ashley Young who both came from Premier League clubs Tottenham and Manchester United, Inter have bolstered their squad even more as they continue to fight to capture their first Italian title since the 2009/10 campaign.

Milan Could Dethrone Juventus

Just a couple months ago, I did believe that Juve would win yet another Serie A title. But Inter has looked more impressive this season than they have in a very long time, losing just once in domestic competition. Although it’s a very close race right now between Inter, Juve, and Lazio, I think Conte’s side are hungry to win it all this year with one of the best squads they’ve had in several years.

Lazio will continue to impress with Ciro Immobile lighting up the scoresheet on a weekly basis, finishing in third place by the end of the season. But when it comes to the title race, Inter has what it takes to win Italy’s top flight. Juve has also lost two out of their last three matches as they struggle to get back into form.

With 15 matches still left in the 2019/20 Serie A campaign, a lot can change. But given Inter’s exhilarating form over the course of this season, they’re showing the ability to win it all and prevent Juventus from winning their ninth consecutive title.

Pick: Inter Milan +220
