Arsenal vs Manchester City Over/Under and Spread

The odds suggest the bookies are expecting goals. The under 2.5  goals bet is on offer at evens, while the over is on offer at -120.

Arsenal vs Manchester City Preview

For the Gunners, this has been the season of dreams but a recent blip has raised a few questions about their ability to go the distance in the title race. Defeats away to Man City in the FA Cup and Everton in the EPL were followed by a disappointing home draw with Brentford at the weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s men are still in pole position, and have a vital game in hand over City but will be desperate to steady the ship after a rocky couple of weeks. Even a point at the Emirates would be okay for Arsenal as it would retain their three-point gap at the top of the table.

Can the Gunners End Their Wobble?

New signing, Leandro Trossard has made a good start to life in North London after his move from Brighton and is putting pressure on Gabriel Martinelli for the left-wing berth. But other than that decision for Arteta, this Arsenal team almost picks itself at the moment with Eddie Nketiah doing a brilliant job in deputizing for the injured Gabriel Jesus.

While they are in the midst of a wobble, this Arsenal team has been outstanding for most of this season, and with a noisy, passionate Emirates Stadium behind them, this won’t be the comfortable evening for City that some English pundits are predicting.

Man City Charged by EPL

For Man City, their 3-1 win over Aston Villa was a perfect boost after a torrid week in which they were charged by the EPL for breaching financial regulations no less than 115 times. Since Sheikh Mansour took ownership of the club, UEFA and the Premier League have both launched investigations into possible financial impropriety at City, and if found guilty the sanctions could involve fines, points deductions, or even relegation.

But on the field, manager Pep Guardiola has asked the players and supporters to use this to their advantage and to develop an us-against-the-world siege mentality. Against Villa, it worked and the Spaniard will be asking his players to do the same again in what is sure to be a spiky atmosphere inside the Emirates.

Haaland Injured Against Villa

With such a hugely expensive and talented squad at his disposal, Guardiola has the ability to mix and match his team depending on the opposition without weakening it. One player almost certain to start at the Emirates is Kevin de Bruyne who, after being left out for a couple of games, was superb on Sunday against Villa.

Up front, the outstanding Erling Haaland is expected to start although he did go off at half-time on Sunday following a suspected muscle strain. The Gunners will, of course, be hoping to see a City starting XI without him but City will be doing everything they can to ensure their Norwegian superstar is fit.

Arsenal vs Manchester City Team Lineups and Injuries

Arsenal Projected Lineup: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Xhaka, Partey, Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, Nketiah.

Injuries & absences: Jesus, Elneny.

Man City Projected Lineup: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Ake, De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan, Mahrez, Grealish, Haaland.

Injuries & absences: Stones.

Arsenal vs Manchester City Prediction

While City start as favorites, the Gunners haven’t built a lead in the EPL table for no reason – they are a good team and Arteta will have them fired up for this one against their rivals for the title.

Unlike the bookies, I’m not expecting an end-to-end goal-fest but instead, for me, everything points to a tight, low-scoring draw.

Picks: Arsenal and Man City to draw (+255) / Under 2.5 goals (+100)
