With a congested league schedule ahead for all clubs across England as we prepare for the new year, every result is very important with minimal rest in between matches. Saturday, December 26th brings an intriguing meeting between Leicester City and Manchester United, kick-off at 7:30 AM EST.

The Foxes and Red Devils are separated by just one point, with the latter in third place while Leicester is in second. Just nine points separate ninth place Aston Villa and table-toppers Liverpool, a testament to just how tight things are in the top half of the Premier League table.

Last term, Man United beat Leicester on both occasions and have enjoyed a lot of success against them in recent years.

This Matchday 15 clash between Leicester City and Manchester United profiles to be a very close one, with no clear favorite.

Leicester Looking to End Dry Spell Against United

The last time the Foxes actually beat Manchester United was back in 2014, so it’s safe to say it’s their time to find a result against the Red Devils.  Matchday 14 saw Leicester beat a very solid Tottenham squad that has been running riot on everyone. Jamie Vardy fired his side ahead with a spot-kick in the first half and then a Toby Alderweireld own goal sealed the three points for the visitors.

Vardy has been in tremendous form once again this season, bagging 11 goals in just 13 appearances this term while also tallying four assists. The Englishmen reaggravated a hip injury against Spurs that forced him to miss time earlier in the year, but he should be good to go against United.

Rodgers’ men have been playing relatively well, just four points off league leaders Liverpool. But they’re just 3-0-2 in their last five appearances ahead of this massive clash. Dropping points here would allow the Red Devils to leapfrog the Foxes and inch even closer to the Merseysiders.

Home form has been an issue for Leicester as well, going 3-0-4 at the King Power. Not a good sign especially considering how much they’ve struggled against Manchester, but they will certainly be looking to flip the script on Saturday.

United Finding Their Form

It was frankly a miserable start to the season for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s squad. But, the Red Devils have turned things around recently, going unbeaten in five of their last six appearances across all competitions. After bowing out of the Champions League Group Stage, they’ve shifted their focus to the Premier League where United is well in contention at the top of the table.

A League Cup quarterfinal fixture against Everton on Wednesday saw Manchester bury the Toffees 2-0 after a beautiful Edinson Cavani winner late in the second half. The Red Devils then sealed the deal just minutes later when Anthony Rashford netted. In Premier League play, Man U destroyed Leeds last weekend, putting six past Marcelo Bielsa’s side in an utterly dominant performance.

They will be heading into this clash with tons of confidence, considering Solskjaer’s men have won three straight. They’re also unbeaten in their last 11 games against the Foxes while also losing just one of their previous 22 meetings with them.

As for Boxing Day fixtures, no other team has enjoyed this much success on a particular day. The Red Devils hold an 81% win rate on December 26th, the best amongst all Premier League clubs.

Bruno Fernandes continues to impress in the final third, leading the side with nine goals and five assists in league play. The Portuguese international has made the ultimate difference at Old Trafford, playing a key part in their recent success.

Best Bet

It would be an easy choice to go with Manchester United here considering their recent success against Leicester. If you also take in their home form, there doesn’t seem like much value in betting on the Foxes here.

But we’ve seen how vulnerable the Red Devils can be defensively at times this season and I think that one mishap is going to allow Leicester to bag the only goal needed in this match. Their backline will keep the likes of Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial quiet, while Vardy will score the lone goal.

Pick: Leicester City +200, Jamie Vardy As First Goal Scorer +380
