  • On Wednesday, July 22nd, Manchester United will host West Ham at Old Trafford in the penultimate game of their campaign
  • Manchester United will look to bounce into the last Champions League qualification spot as they sit level with Leicester City, while West Ham remains in 16th place
  • Currently, the favorites in the match are Manchester United with moneyline odds of -385.

With only two games left in the Premier League season, Manchester United will be trying their hardest to obtain Champions League qualification. On the 37th matchday, the Red Devils are level on points and goal difference with Leicester City, before their match against West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. The team led by Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes will look to get back to winning ways after they suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Chelsea on the weekend.

The Hammers, on the other hand, look poised to finish the season towards the bottom part of the table. Currently, in 16th place, David Moyes’s side are practically already safe from relegation. Nevertheless, they will want to finish the season strong with two wins off the bounce.

Will Bruno Fernandes Shine at Old Trafford?

Manchester United and West Ham have a fairly even record against each other as of late. West Ham have actually managed two wins, while United have won and drawn one against the London side. The Mancs will need a player to shine and make a difference on Wednesday if they want to turn this record around. That player is Bruno Fernandes. The new signing from Sporting CP has 14 goal contributions in only 12 appearances for his new club and will be facing a defense with the fourth-worst defense in the English top flight.

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are no joke either, combining for 46 goal contributions in the Premier League this season alone. Manchester United looked shaky against Chelsea, but against a lackluster team with nothing to play for, expect them to shine. Getting into the top four will be a serious accomplishment for a side keen on building a history of success. They will need to win this game if they want to do so, with Leicester City literally handing them an opportunity.

Can West Ham Surprise the Red Devils?

Does West Ham have a long-shot chance here? The short answer is probably not. However, they could make waves on the offensive end. Their defense might crumble more than an over-baked cookie, but their offense is quite strong for their position in the table. With 47 goals coming from players like Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller, the Hammers could threaten Harry Maguire and David de Gea into making a mistake. Note, that these two players have been equally as bad as West Ham’s defense as of late.

Best Bet

Finally, the best bet for this match is the over on total goals at 3, 3 1/2 with odds of -106. The value here is quite good, and the chances are even better. Both defenses are extremely volatile, and Manchester United will be gunning for goals either way. This game has a number of in-form players looking to make their mark in the team sheet for next year which is a further showing of why this will most likely be a barn-burner.

My Pick: Over 3, 3 1/2 Goals (-106)
