Perhaps the best news for New York City FC was that the the club earned a bye in the third round of the US Open Cup draw. They’ve gone out of the tournament in the Round of 32 in four of the five years that the club’s been entered in the US Open Cup. Revolution coach Bruce Arena is taking the US Open Cup seriously. He sent out a lineup of regulars against FC Cincinnati. With the regular season slipping away from New England, the Revs may see the US Open Cup as their best chance at glory in 2022.
