After blowing a 17-point lead that gives them losses in four of their last five, the Dallas Wings (6-7, 1-5 away) get a chance for immediate redemption when they face off against the team that did it to them, the LA Sparks (6-7, 4-4 home).

Odds as of June 24 from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Wings Can’t Land Win in LA

After an impressive start for Dallas, building a 27-13 lead after one quarter of play, the Wings proceeded to get outscored in every quarter after, eventually dropping a 76-74 decision to the Sparks.

Natasha Howard led the way for Dallas with 23 points and 12 rebounds, but she also had an ugly six turnovers.

Arike Ogunbowale had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists, but scored just two points in the second half.  Satou Sabally had 13 points and 11 rebounds and three assists.

Defensively, Dallas held the Sparks to 35.1% shooting, including a miserable 2-for-18 from downtown, a paltry 11.1%.

However, turnovers were a big factor, as LA converted 18 Dallas giveaways into 22 points. The Wings also got outscored from the stripe 22-13.

Sparks Recover From Shaky Start

After getting lit up in the first quarter, Los Angeles’ 4th-ranked defense kept them in it, while they chipped away at the lead. The Sparks held Dallas to 18 points or less in each of the final thee quarters to pull out the win.

Nneka Ogwumike had 20 points, seven boards and three steals, while Jordin Canada added 18 points, six assists and three steals, including the go-ahead free throws with 54.1 seconds to complete the comeback.

LA also got a big boost from Destanni Henderson, who came off the bench for a career-high 18 points on 7-for-14 shooting in 26 minutes.

There’s plenty that the Sparks need to clean up in the rematch, particularly on the boards, where the Wings — who lead the WNBA in rebounding — owned the glass with a 48-32 advantage.

Wings vs Sparks Betting Prediction

The 3rd-highest scoring team in the WNBA, Dallas was held to just 74 points, tied for the 2nd-lowest scoring output they’ve had all season.

Guess who their lowest point total was against? Yes, these same Sparks, who crushed Dallas 79-61 on June 14.

This matchup features two of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league, but Dallas, who is just one of two teams to shoot it at under 30% on the year, are also second in 3-point attempts per game at 25.

Wings vs Sparks Head-to-Head Stats

Dallas Wings
VS
Los Angeles Sparks
84.6 (3rd) Points Per Game 78.7 (7th)
40.5% (9th) Field Goal Percentage 42.1% (8th)
29.2% (11th) Three-Point Percentage 31.3% (10th)
39.2 (1st) Rebounds 32.2 (11th)
17.5 (11th) Assists 19.2 (6th)
14.0 (6th) Turnovers 13.6 (2nd)
-0.2 (6th) +/- +0.5 (5th)

They  were just 5-for-24 (20.8%) last game. Not a great strategy against an LA side that boasts the third-best 3-point shooting D in the WNBA, one of three teams to hold the opposition under 30% for the year.

Both teams haven’t been playing great of late: the Sparks’ win snapped a three-game slide, and it was just their third win in their last eight. The Wings have dropped four of five, and have three wins in their last nine.

Considering the two sides haven’t come anywhere close to 160 points combined, take the total as a gift and bang the under.

The Pick: UNDER 160.5 (-110)
