San Francisco 49ers

Founded in 1946 in the AAFC before joining the NFL in 1950, the San Francisco 49ers built one of sports’ greatest dynasties in the 1980s and 1990s. Powered by Bill Walshโ€™s “West Coast Offense,” San Francisco captured five Super Bowl titles (16, 19, 23, 24, 29). Canton luminaries include Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jerry Rice (the NFL’s all-time receiving leader), Ronnie Lott, and Fred Dean.

Levi Stadium

Levi’s Stadium is located in Santa Clara, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley roughly 40 miles south of San Francisco. The open-air venue holds 68,500 fans and features a natural Tifway II Bermuda grass surface overseeded with perennial rye.

Unlike San Francisco’s foggy coastal climate, Santa Clara is warmer and sunnier. Early-season day games are known for intense heat and unrelenting sun exposure, particularly on the eastern grandstands and visiting sideline. By late fall, gentle breezes from San Francisco Bay and occasional Pacific rain systems provide crisp, cool conditions.
