In a very unorthodox year, the 2020 NFL season will close out with a very familiar scene: a battle for the underwhelming NFC East title in primetime. The Washington Football Team are favored to claim their first division title in five years with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles. If the home team can play spoiler on a damp night at Lincoln Financial Field, than the winner of the Cowboys-Giants game will get the final playoff spot in the NFC.
Will the players with 60 minutes left in their season show out or are the guys fighting to keep their year going worth backing? Let’s explore.

The Thomas First Down Affair
Playing against the Eagles atrocious secondary should almost be an automatic OVER on all quarterback props. But considering Alex Smith is returning from a leg injury (and he didn’t exactly light up the statsheet beforehand), that’s not the best play to take advantage of these confused Philly corners. Instead, look to another budding Washington star to shine here.

Washington’s wide receivers were unable to make plays when called upon last week versus Carolina. Instead, Thomas and JD McKissic led the team’s passing attack. Though Terry McLaurin is returning this week, he’s playing through a high ankle sprain that should limit his explosiveness and relegate him to more of a decoy role. That should open up more space for Thomas to take advantage of a Philly defense that has allowed 1047 passing yards in their last three games and gives up receptions on over 76% of tight end targets.
Pick: 1 unit on Logan Thomas OVER 4.5 receptions (+108)
Hurts Hears Footsteps
The first meeting between these two teams was the unveiling of Washington’s unstoppable defensive line, as the Football Team finished with eight sacks of Carson Wentz. They should be able to apply even more pressure against this battered Eagles offensive line. However, when they do get pressure, rookie Jalen Hurts will actually take off and run, rather than just get clobbered.

With many of the Eagles offensive weapons ruled out of this game, anticipate Hurts taking off and running a few more times. He’s gone over 56.5 yards rushing in each of his first three starts: look for the rookie to make it four in his final outing of the season.
Pick: 1 unit on Jalen Hurts OVER 56.5 yards rushing (-112)
Football Team vs Eagles Scoring Props
Team | Odds to Score 1st TD | Odds to Score Any TD |
---|---|---|
Antonio Gibson (WAS) | +550 | -121 |
JD McKissic (WAS) | +650 | +100 |
Zach Ertz (PHI) | +850 | +150 |
Peyton Barber (WAS) | +1100 | +180 |
Terry McLaurin (WAS) | +1100 | +180 |
Logan Thomas(WAS) | +1100 | +180 |
Jalen Hurts (PHI) | +1200 | +200 |
Cam Sims (WAS) | +1200 | +210 |
Boston Scott (PHI) | +1300 | +225 |
Jalen Reagor (PHI) | +1600 | +300 |
McKissic Makes Magic
Washington’s scatback has seen a ton of targets in the passing game over the last month. Even after Antonio Gibson returned to the lineup last week, McKissic played 69% of the offensive snaps. That nice percentage was at partly due to Washington trailing for the entire game, but even if the Eagles don’t jump out to a 20 point lead, Mckissic should still be involved in the offense. He’s simply one of the team’s best receivers.

Again, with McLaurin limited and Cam Sims and others fighting dropitis, McKissic and Thomas should be the most productive weapons for Smith in the passing game. I’ll take the running back to find the endzone in some fashion tonight.
Pick: 1 unit on JD McKissic anytime TD (+100)
