It may only be a 5-game slate in the NBA Sunday night, but there’s plenty of star power and intrigue packed into it.

The Dallas Mavericks may be without Luka Doncic for a third straight game, in Los Angeles to take on a Clippers team that’s being floated by Paul George while they await the good health of co-superstar Kawhi Leonard to return after knee surgery.

LA’s other squad took a thrashing Friday night against the Celtics. They’re in Motown to take on a Pistons team that has had its own troubles to start this year, while the Suns will try to make it 12 straight wins as they host the Nuggets.

It’s a rematch of the 2019 NBA Finals with the Raptors in GState to take on the NBA-best Warriors, while the surging Bulls host the Knicks.

Chris Paul Total Points

The Phoenix Suns haven’t lost since an October 27 date with the Sacramento Kings. They’re coming off a 2-game mini-set sweep of the Dallas Mavericks, which has pushed their win streak to 11.

Chris Paul has been one of the driving forces behind the run, and it hasn’t just been his usual assist numbers, though they’re stellar. He’s averaging 11.6 dimes per game during the streak, and coming off back-to-back 14 assist games against Dallas.

However, he’s been scoring it well too. In fact, over the last eight games, he’s failed to pass his scoring total for this one just one time when he tallied seven points against the Mavericks on Nov 17.

Denver does lead the league in opposition scoring, holding teams to 100.1 points per game, but the Suns are no slouch offensively, totalling the 4th-highest scoring offense at 110.7 points a night, and they shoot it at a 47.1% clip on the season.

The Nuggets have lost three in a row, and guard play has given them trouble. Against Chicago, Zach LaVine had 36 points and DeMar DeRozan added 26, Tyrese Maxey and Seth Curry each went for 20+ for the Sixers, while Luka Doncic had 23 and Tim Hardaway Jr went for 19 for the Mavericks. Look for the trend to continue.

Gary Trent Jr Three-Pointers

The Raptors broke a three game losing streak with a much-needed win over the Sacramento Kings last time out, and Trent Jr was one of the big reasons why. He went 5-for-11 from downtown en route to 23 points. It was his second straight 5-for-11 outing from deep, as he scored 31 in a loss to Utah.

Trent Jr has been solid for a Raptors squad that is still ready-built for a plug-and-play superstar to take them to the next level. Trent Jr is part of that core, and he’s been great in November. He’s averaging 20.1 points per game for the month, and has drilled 37.8% of his shots from downtown.

He’s surpassed the 2.5-make total four times in his last five contests. Golden State is one of the top teams in defending the three, as they hold clubs to a 31.6% mark (5th), but teams can still hit from deep against them. Last time out, the Pistons had three players nail at least three 3-pointers. Prior to that, Dean Wade, Darius Garland and Kevin Love each connected for at least three money-balls though the Cavs lost to the Dubs.
