Jamaica’s Chances Almost Over
Jamaica’s chances of qualifying for December’s World Cup finals in Qatar hang by the slenderest of threads as with just four qualifying games remaining they are 10 points adrift of the one play-off place. Defeat here would signal the end of those hopes once and for all.

Two defeats in their last two – against Mexico and Panama – when wins were desperately needed have cost the Reggae Boyz dearly. The 10-point gap to the playoff place means every game now is a must-win, although it has to be said they were particularly unlucky to lose at home to Mexico where they were undone by two late goals.
Reggae Boyz With Pride to Play For
They started brightly too away in Panama on Sunday and actually took the lead as early as the 5th-minute through West Ham’s Michail Antonio, but were unable to hold onto that lead as a Javain Brown own goal just before halftime sent the teams in level. Goals from Panama’s Eric Davis and Azmahar Ariano then sent the home side into a 3-1 lead before Andre Gray gave Jamaica hope with three minutes remaining.
A proud moment for Daniel ❤️

It wasn’t to be for the Reggae Boyz though and as their late flurry for an equalizer petered out in Panama City, so too realistically did their chances of qualification. But while Paul Hall’s side has to conquer the impossible in order to get fourth place, they still have pride to play for and will desperately want to give their home fans a win to celebrate.

Costa Rica’s Chance of CONCACAF World Cup Qualification
While Jamaica’s hopes of Qatar are all but extinguished, Costa Rica’s are very much alive and kicking after taking seven points from their last three qualifying games. At the weekend they were able to hold Mexico to a goalless draw in Mexico City and in doing so managed to keep themselves in touch with both the playoff and even automatic qualification.

There is work still to do, however, with Mexico, in third place, five points ahead of them, and Panama in fourth still four points ahead. But they have given themselves a chance especially as they have hit a rich vein of form at just the right time. Qualification for a third consecutive World Cup finals is therefore still a possibility for the Costa Ricans.
Fine Draw in Mexico for Los Ticos
Costa Rica’s draw in Mexico was arguably their best of the campaign so far, not least because it meant that they had picked up a point away from home – something of a rarity for Los Ticos.

While manager Luis Fernando Suarez has made his team hard to beat at home, on their travels they have picked up just three points and scored just a single goal in their five games. A win here is very much needed so a change of approach may be need needed. These two drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture back in September.
Jamaica vs Costa Rica Pick
Jamaica will be keen to not disappoint their home fans here, even though their hopes of qualification are all but over, and it will be no easy ride for Costa Rica. But the key here could end up being the extra incentive Los Ticos have for the win. With Panama away in Mexico, this offers Costa Rica a genuine chance of closing the gap to one point and so, therefore, for me the value is with the away win.
