Get your brooms ready. The Colorado Avalanche proved too much for the Predators to handle once again in game 3 and are now just one win away from a series sweep.
Oddsmakers aren’t expecting the Predators to get back in this series, as the Avalanche opened as heavy -245 moneyline road favorites to win game 4 and be the first team to advance to the next round in the NHL playoff bracket.
Let’s take a closer look at the Avalanche vs Predators Monday NHL odds and give you our best NHL pick for game 4.
Avalanche vs Predators Odds
Team | Puck Line | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
Colorado Avalanche | -1.5 (-105) | O 6.5 (-115) | -245 |
Nashville Predators | +1.5 (-117) | U 6.5 (-105) | +200 |
Odds as of May 8th at Barstool Sportsbook.
The betting line has been set with the Avalanche paying -105 to cover the puck line and win by two goals or more. With -245 moneyline odds, the Avs have an implied win probability of 71.01%.
Avalanche Solidifying Odds as Stanley Cup Favorites
As always, there have been a few eye-openers in the first round of the playoffs so far. No surprise with Colorado though, as the Avalanche have taken all three contests by a combined score of 16-6 proving the oddsmakers right in making the Avs the favorites in the 2022 Stanley Cup odds.
Cale Makar is continuing to produce at a ridiculous level for a defenseman. The blueliner sits atop the board in the Norris Trophy odds and already has seven points in three playoff games, leading the postseason in scoring coming into Sunday’s action. Combined with the regular season, Makar has 30 goals and 93 points in 80 games.
Cale Makar (0-3—3) boosted his career playoffs points-per-game average to 1.00 (9-29—38 in 38 GP) – the fourth highest all-time among defensemen (min. 15 GP), behind Bobby Orr (1.24), Brian Leetch (1.02) and Paul Coffey (1.01). #StanleyCup #NHLStats: https://t.co/E3tuumt6fh pic.twitter.com/fiFlZhsZWY

It hasn’t completely been a bed of roses for the Avalanche in this best-of-seven series. Number one netminder, Darcy Kuemper, left game three after being struck in the face with a stick in the first period. His status for game four is unknown as of press time, but Avs head coach Jared Bednar did leave the door open for Kuemper to be between the pipes in game four.

Nashville Predators Home Underdogs in Monday NHL Odds
There’s not much hope for the Preds at this point. It seems like they missed their best shot to make this a competitive series when they couldn’t capitalize on a 49 save performance from rookie Connor Ingram in game two and went down 2-1 in overtime.
As you’d expect the have the worst Western Conference odds of any team still playing and are becoming more and more of a long shot with each passing game.
Head Coach John Hynes rolled the dice at a crucial point in game three and his gamble failed to pay off. With the game tied 3-3 in the second, Hynes unsuccessfully challenged a Gabriel Landeskog goal that put Colorado up. The incorrect challenge gave the Avs a power play, where Nazem Kadri put them up 5-3, a deficit from which Nashville couldn’t battle back.

Hynes is 3-2 on challenges this season, 0-2 on interference specifically.

Avalanche vs Predators Series Stats
3-0 | Series Record | 0-3 |
16 (5.3/game) | Goals For/GP | 6 (2/game) |
6 (2/game) | Goals Against/GP | 16 (5.3/game) |
42.9% | Power Play | 27.3% |
72.7% | Penalty Kill | 57.1% |
If the Predators are to have any hope at all of winning game four, they’d be wise to stay out of the penalty box. Colorado’s star studded unit on the man advantage have clicked on six of 14 power plays in this series.
Avalanche vs Predators Game Four Pick
Whether Kuemper is in net for Colorado or not, the fate of this series is sealed. It’s just a matter of guessing if the Predators can give their fans a home win in game four in the Monday NHL odds. Nashville is now on a five game playoff losing streak.
The Avalanche on the other hand, have a record of 11-1 in their last 12 conference quarterfinals games. Monday’s have also been one of the better days of the week for this Colorado team who have a record of 14-3 in their last 17 Monday games.

Nashville just doesn’t have the talent to keep up with the best in the West, but they do have a lot of pride and while Colorado is likely to win, expect the Preds to keep it close. Take the Predators to keep the game within two goals at -117 odds on the puck line in game four at Barstool Sportsbook.
