  • Minnesota visits Philadelphia on Monday Night Football (Sept. 19, 8:30 pm ET) in Week 2
  • The over/under prop on Kirk Cousins passing yards is a massive 279.5 yards
  • Read below for the best Vikings vs Eagles player prop bets

Better late than never. The Vikings versus Eagles contest projects as arguably the best game on the Week 2 slate, so it’s only fitting that it’s being given the Monday Night Football treatment.

The matchup is loaded with stars on both sides, but especially at the receiver position. Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson led the NFL in receiving in Week 1, while Philadelphia’s AJ Brown was second. Those two are sure to draw an enormous amount of action in the player props market, but we’re going to start our betting card with running back Dalvin Cook, the Vikings next best playmaker.

Cook and the Vikings are currently 2.5-point underdogs in the Week 2 NFL odds, but that doesn’t mean we should expect a pass heavy game script from the purple and gold.

Pick #1: Dalvin Cook Over 70.5 Rushing Yards

After seeing what Justin Jefferson did to the Packers last week, there’s absolutely no way Philly doesn’t put more DB’s on the field to try to slow him down. Expect Jefferson to see plenty of double coverage, and while he’s certainly capable of beating that sort of scheme, the soft boxes Minnesota will face will encourage more volume on the ground.

Cook is certainly capable of capitalizing, and the over/under on his rushing prop is simply too low for a player of his calibre. The 27-year-old ripped off 90 rushing yards in Week 1, and has exceeded 70 yards on the ground in nine of his past 11 outings.

As for the Eagles run defense, their opening-week effort shouldn’t inspire much confidence among bettors. Philadelphia coughed up 181 rushing yards to the Lions on 28 attempts, for a whopping average of 6.5 yards a pop. Philly’s defense is one of the primary reasons the Vikings vs Eagles odds feature a game total of 50.5.

Pick: Dalvin Cook Over 70.5 Rushing Yards (-115), 1 unit

Pick #2: Thielen Strikes First

While the extra attention Jefferson commands in between the 20’s should open up plenty of space for Cook, it’s impossible to ignore Kirk Cousins’ affinity with Adam Thielen in scoring position.

Thielen earned just as many looks inside the opponent’s 10-yard line as Jefferson last year, and converted at a much higher rate. He hauled in 100% of his targets from in tight, while Jefferson caught just 33% of his. Thielen converted six of his looks in touchdowns, compared to only three by Jefferson, while Thielen and Cousins have hooked up for 40 scores in 55 career games together.

As for an anytime touchdown bet, it’s hard to ignore Jalen Hurts at +110. Philly’s dual threat QB ran one in last week, giving him 14 career rushing touchdowns in 31 games. He also carried the ball 17 times, one off his career high, and this Eagles offense operates best when he’s on the move.

Hurts led all NFL QB’s last year with 22 carries inside the 10-yard line, six more than anyone else. He converted nine of those rushes into scores, and I’m betting he gets another one on Monday Night.

Picks: Adam Thielen First TD (+1200), 0.25 Units, Jalen Hurts Anytime TD (+110), 1 Unit

2022 MNF Props record: 1-3, -1.38 units
