The New England Patriots (1-1, 2-0 ATS) visit the New York Jets (1-1, 1-1 ATS) on Thursday Night Football at MetLife Stadium in Week 3 (8:15 pm ET) with the home team a six-point favorite in the Jets vs Patriots odds.
The Jets opened as 6.5-point favorites in the Week 3 NFL odds but the public has been siding with New England when it comes to betting the spread, which has led most sportsbooks to lower the number to six flat. Despite the lowered spread, the NFL public betting trends still show the majority of ATS handle on New England for Thursday Night Football.
New England Patriots vs New York Jets Public Betting Splits
Team | Spread | ATS Handle% | ATS Bet% | Moneyline | ML Handle% | ML Bet% | Total Points | O/U Handle% | O/U Bet% |

New England Patriots | +6 | 53% | 39% | +225 | 21% | 38% | O 38.5 | 65% | 53% |
New York Jets | -6 | 47% | 61% | -286 | 79% | 62% | U 38.5 | 35% | 47% |
As of 2:41 pm ET on Thursday, the Pats were getting 53% of the money bet against the spread on just 39% of the tickets, indicating that significantly larger wagers are on New England to cover.

When it comes to the moneyline, however, the public isn’t buying a straight-up Patriots victory. A massive 79% of moneyline handle is on the Jets to win as -286 home chalk, with just 21% of money on New England to win as +225 road underdogs.
The game total is at a relatively low 38.5, which is proving a touch too low for the public’s taste. Roughly five hours before kickoff, 65% of the game-total handle was on the over (on just 53% of the bets), leaving just 35% of O/U handle on under 38.5.

Injury reports as of 2:35 pm ET on Sep. 19.
When it comes to the injury reports, the Patriots are more banged-up, especially on the offensive line. Four of their five starters have an injury designation of some sort, with two would-be starters – left guard Sidy Sow and left tackle Vederian Lowe – listed as out. Lowe played 82% of snaps in New England’s 16-10 Week 1 upset win at Cincinnati, and 96% of snaps in his team’s Week 2 OT loss to Seattle (23-20) at home. Sow has yet to play a snap this season.
Despite the injuries on the O-line, SBD’s Patriots vs Jets player props and Patriots vs Jets same-game parlay both include a Rhomondre Stevenson touchdown among their top picks for tonight.

On the New York side, the injury issues are all up front on the defensive side; OLB Jermaine Johnson, who had four tackles including one TFL in the first two weeks, is out with an Achilles injury. Starting mike CJ Mosley, who has 12 tackles through two games, is questionable with a toe injury.
Meanwhile, edge rusher Haason Reddick, who was acquired from the Eagles in the offseason, is continuing to holdout until the Jets sign him to an extension. Reddick has had double-digit sacks each of the last four seasons (50.5 total) and was expected to be a huge addition to an already-strong Jets defense.
