Wednesday Night NBA Summer League on ESPN features the 1-2 Washington Wizards visiting the 0-3 Utah Jazz at Thomas & Mack Center. Tip off is slated for 10 pm ET on ESPN.
The Jazz can’t buy a win despite averaging 96.3 points per game. They’ve lost three straight by a combined 18 points, including Monday’s heartbreaking overtime defeat to San Antonio.
Washington’s coming off an embarrassing 58-point performance against Philadelphia. The Wizards rested their starters including Alex Sarr and Tre Johnson, managing just 31.9% shooting in the blowout loss.
Wizards vs Jazz Prediction
This matchup should produce plenty of points. Utah has scored 90-plus in all three Summer League games despite going winless. They’re averaging 96.3 points per game, good for seventh-best in the tournament.
The Jazz can’t stop anyone from scoring. They’re allowing opponents to shoot 43.8% from the field while getting demolished on the glass. Their 34.7 rebounds per game rank second-worst among all 30 teams.
Summer League Scoring Trends
Tre Johnson and Alex Sarr could return after sitting Tuesday, but don’t count on it. Teams often shut down lottery picks after just two or three Summer League games to avoid injury risk.
If they play, it changes everything. Johnson has been lights out, shooting 58.3% from the field and 45.5% from three while averaging 19.5 points in just two games. Sarr set a Summer League record with eight blocks against Brooklyn while adding 16 points and 12 rebounds
Kyle Filipowski, who was averaging 29.3 points per game through three games, is out for Utah. That’s a massive blow to an offense already struggling to close out games despite high scoring totals.
Cody Williams averages 17.7 points, but on inefficient shooting. Isaiah Collier leads Summer League with 8.3 assists per game, yet the Jazz still can’t finish. They’ve lost by margins of six, ten, and two points.
The injury report looms large. Ace Bailey (hip) remains questionable after missing three straight games. Walter Clayton Jr. (hamstring) has been out since the opener. Utah’s depth gets tested without their lottery picks and now their best performer.
Wizards vs Jazz Best Bet
Because I’m predicting Utah struggles without Filipowski regardless of Washington’s lineup, my best bet is Wizards +1.5 (-110 at Caesars).

The line hasn’t adjusted enough for Filipowski’s absence. He was carrying Utah’s offense and keeping them competitive despite their defensive struggles. Without him, the Jazz lose nearly 30 points of production.
Even without Johnson and Sarr, Washington has depth. AJ Johnson scored 20 points against Philly on Tuesday. Will Riley shot 5-for-6 from the field against Brooklyn. Jamir Watkins posted eight steals in their last win.
Utah has shown they can score, but they’ve also shown they can’t win. Remove their best player, and those close losses turn into comfortable defeats. The Jazz have no proven backup plan without Filipowski dominating touches
The Wizards have more talent available and better two-way balance. Take the points with the team getting healthier while their opponent loses its best weapon.
Wizards vs Jazz Odds
This line essentially makes it a pick’em game with Utah laying just 1.5 points. The market hasn’t fully adjusted to Filipowski being out, creating value on Washington.
Both teams’ injury reports will heavily influence late line movement.
