Finally, we’ve reached Super Bowl weekend.

As we get set for Seahawks-Patriots, today we’re covering the heavy bets prior to the actual kickoff.

Read below for my picks and predictions for the Super Bowl 60 coin toss and the national anthem props.

Super Bowl Coin Toss Result

Analysis: It’s one of the mots wagered bets when talking Super Bowl, and there’s literally no way to know how it’s going to turn out. You’ve got a 50-50 shot at landing this one.

Traditionally, it’s pretty even with heads landing 28 times and tails hitting 51 times. Heads has owned the longest streak at five, while tails has hit consecutively four times, on three different occasions.

More recently, since Super Bowl 57 (Rams-Bengals), when it landed heads for Cincy, the toss has alternated between heads and tails in four straight title games, with KC-Philly II last year ending up on tails.

No prediction here, but a bit of advice: don’t overthink this one. I like either of your choices.

Team to Win Super Bowl Coin Toss

Analysis: Again, there’s no art form in this, but here’s something interesting to note: the AFC has won the coin toss in five straight Super Bowls.

Team that Wins Coin Toss to Win Super Bowl

Analysis: In the last 10 Super Bowls (all in the 50s), only two teams that won the coin toss went on to win the Super Bowl. Those teams? Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs, who won coin tosses against San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Their quest for a third coin toss-Super Bowl win combo crashed out last year, when Philly exacted revenge on them.

Prior to the Chiefs, the last team to win the coin toss and the title? The Seattle Seahawks, who did it in Super Bowl 49 against the Denver Broncos.

Super Bowl National Anthem Length

Analysis: This bet has been taken off the board in previous Super Bowls because there are people that have stood outside the stadium and timed the artists’ anthem rehearsal.

So you can try and tightrope that leak and your book’s patience before closing, or play it straight up with the info you do have.

No surprise the Overs and Unders have been split down the middle the last 10 years – though just three of the last eight anthems have hit the two-minute mark.

The two most recent singers: Reba MacEntire at Super Bowl 58 and Jon Batiste in Super Bowl 59 have each gone under.

This year’s anthem singer Charlie Puth will become just the second Jersey-born singer to perform the SB national anthem, the other being 30 years ago, when Whitney Houston sang it. It’s the version Puth considers the best of all-time, also giving props to Chris Stapleton.

If he’s paying homage to Whitney’s version, that clocked in at 117 seconds.

Length of”Brave” Note Held in National Anthem

Analysis: I feel like the books are anticipating Puth using that “Brave” finish to punctuate the anthem, as the 4.5 seconds feel a bit higher than in previous Super Bowls.

Again, if he’s channeling his Jersey counterpart, then you know where we’re going.

Houston’s anthem on this Youtube video hits after the timer on the bottom crosses the 1:51 mark, but even then, Houston lays the “Brave” down until the video touches the 2:20 mark.

This one feels like one of the surer of these novelty props.

First QB Shown on Broadcast During National Anthem

Analysis: It would really help if you were friends with the Super Bowl director for NBC (the network broadcasting the game).

NBC didn’t do the Championship Games, but in both, Sam Darnold and Drake Maye were both the second QB shown during the anthem. For what it’s worth, NBC did the Rams-Bears Divisional playoff, and the home QB, Caleb Williams, was featured first.

I think Drake Maye is the more all-American story, but if you’re going for shock value, tell me it’s not jarring to see that Sam Freaking Darnold getting ready for the Super Bowl during the anthem.

It’s more compelling and I like the odds.

First Head Coach Shown on Broadcast During National Anthem

Analysis: Unless you’re a diehard football fan, it’s probably unlikely you could identify Mike Macdonald if he didn’t have any Seahawks gear on and he was standing next to you.

Throw in the fact that that Mike Vrabel was just named NFL Coach of the Year, and he’s on a historic run of taking a 4-win team to within a win of the Super Bowl, and he’s definitely the coach with more profile Sunday.

Will a Player or Coach Cry During Super Bowl National Anthem

Analysis: Look, we’ve had too much Nick Srianni and Chris Jones in our lives around this weekend, so it feels like tearing up is sort of the norm for the big game.

Jones was here five of the last six years, and Srianni two of the last four, and neither are here now. Normally, players are pretty locked into the task at hand, so I’m taking the plus odds.
