A heavyweight Western Conference skirmish awaits as the Colorado Avalanche head north to battle the Edmonton Oilers. Puck drop for this late-season tilt is scheduled for 7:30 PM MT / 9:30 PM ET Monday, April 13th at Rogers Place in Edmonton. It doesn’t get much better than this, with two of the top-three point getters in the NHL going toe-to-toe (Connor McDavid vs Nathan MacKinnon).

The Avalanche roll into town as a formidable road favorite, having already clinched the Presidents’ Trophy and the top overall seed in the West. Meanwhile, the Oilers are scratching and clawing to wrestle the Pacific Division crown away from Anaheim and Vegas, but they are on the home underdogs in the NHL odds.

Despite playing in the hostile environment of Rogers Place, the Avalanche are incredibly well-positioned to secure a victory. The most glaring trend in this matchup heavily favors the visitors: the Avalanche are a dominant 12-1 on the road over their last 13 games.

The Avs have won their last five games on the road after a loss and have won four straight overall following a defeat.

On the flip side, the Oilers have completely struggled to defend home ice when the sportsbooks cast them as the underdog. They’ve dropped their last nine games at home as an underdog.

Best Total Bet: Under 6.5 Goals (+100 at Caesars)

The over has gone completely cold for both sides recently. For Colorado, the over has failed to hit in each of their last five contests. Edmonton’s offense has similarly trended downward at Rogers Place, with the under cashing in each of their last four home tilts.

Top Player Props to Target

Nathan MacKinnon: Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-128 at FanDuel)
Nathan MacKinnon is the engine that drives the Avalanche offense, ranking third in NHL scoring with 126 points. I am comfortable laying the -128 vig on the consensus market for MacKinnon to eclipse the 3.5 total shots mark. He’s racked up at least five shots on goal in six of his last nine affairs.

Connor McDavid: Over 1.5 Total Points (-120 at DraftKings)
The Oilers captain has his consensus points line set at 1.5, with the over priced at a reasonable -120. He’s leading the NHL Art Ross Trophy race with 133 points, given to the player with most points on the campaign. He’s picked up at least two points in five of nine, and in his latest meeting with the Avs, registered a pair of points.
