  • The June 23 World Cup slate features several heavy favorites
  • Portugal and England stand as major chalk against Uzbekistan and Ghana, respectively
  • See the top World Cup picks from our data-backed prediction model

The World Cup group stage continues on Tuesday, June 23, with a four-game slate offering a wide spectrum of betting angles. The schedule includes Portugal vs Uzbekistan (1:00 PM ET), England vs Ghana (4:00 PM ET), Panama vs Croatia (7:00 PM ET), and Colombia vs Congo DR (10:00 PM ET).

I ran all four matches through our proprietary A.I. prediction model to get its top pick for each game. The table below summarizes those picks and the best-available prices. Under the table, I have reproduced the computer’s rationale for each pick along with one-click options to tail the bets.

World Cup Picks & Predictions (June 23)

MatchupPickBest-Available Odds
Portugal vs UzbekistanPortugal Over 2.5 Goals+104 (49¢ at Kalshi)
England vs GhanaEngland Over 2.5 Goals+122 (45¢ at Kalshi)
Panama vs CroatiaCroatia to Win-178 (64¢ at Kalshi)
Colombia vs Congo DRColombia to Win-178 (64¢ at Kalshi)

The model’s chalk-heavy tournament continues on Tuesday. It’s taking all four favorites to either win or go over their team total.

The strategy has been (slightly) profitable so far. After Algeria’s 2-1 comeback win over Jordan on Monday night, the model is 25-19 (+4.08 units on 1-unit wagers).

Below, I have set out the A.I.’s justification for each pick. I am directly quoting the A.I. here, and these are picks from a computer.

POR vs UZB Computer Pick: Portugal Over 2.5 Goals +104 (49¢ at Kalshi)

Portugal Over 2.5 Goals

A.I. rationale: “The model flags heavy expected value on Portugal’s team total rather than laying a shorter price on the full-game Over 2.5. Portugal is well-positioned to dictate the pitch after leading the tournament with 75% average possession in its opening match. Conversely, Uzbekistan struggled to see much of the ball, averaging just 33% possession, and its defense has already shown significant cracks after conceding three goals in its first outing.

The Kalshi price of 49¢ (+104) on Portugal Over 2.5 goals offers a plus-money payout on the same pressure-based handicap the model likes most. With Portugal expected to camp in the attacking third, the computer prefers Portugal to clear three goals on its own.”

ENG vs GHA Computer Pick: England Over 2.5 Goals +122 (45¢ at Kalshi)

Kalshi
England Over 2.5 Goals
45%

A.I. rationale: “The computer projects an offensive showcase from the English side, and Kalshi creates a better payout by isolating England’s scoring instead of taking the full-game total. England revealed a massive offensive ceiling in its opening match, pouring in four goals on an impressive 20 total shots. More importantly, England was highly clinical, putting 12 of those attempts on target. While Ghana managed a victory in its first fixture, it relied heavily on a defensive, counter-attacking style that yielded only 37% possession.

The Kalshi price of 45¢ (+122) on England Over 2.5 goals offers a stronger +EV angle than the standard Over 2.5. Expecting Ghana to absorb that kind of offensive volume against an England squad spearheaded by a two-goal performance from Harry Kane is a tall order.”

PAN vs CRO Computer Pick: Croatia to Win -178 (64¢ at Kalshi)

Kalshi
Croatia
64%

A.I. rationale: “The model identifies value on the moneyline for this bounce-back spot, and Kalshi improves the payout versus the listed sportsbook number. This matchup features two teams seeking a positive result, but Croatia has shown much more life in the attacking third. Despite defensive issues that saw Croatia concede four goals in its opener, it proved it can find the back of the net, scoring twice in the first half. Panama comes into this contest still searching for its first goal after being shut out in its debut.

The Kalshi price of 64¢ (-178) offers a better payout than the available sportsbook moneyline and keeps Croatia as the definitive A.I. play. With both squads averaging exactly 11 total shots so far, Croatia’s finishing edge is the difference the model wants to back.”

COL vs DRC Computer Pick: Colombia to Win -178 (64¢ at Kalshi)

Kalshi
Colombia
64%

A.I. rationale: “The A.I. targets Colombia on the moneyline because of the stark contrast in playing styles. Colombia dictates the tempo with a heavy 67% average ball possession, generating 15 total shots in its opening victory. Congo DR prefers a deep defensive block, holding a tournament-low 25% possession and managing just eight shots in its first game. Colombia’s ability to grind teams down over 90 minutes is evident in its second-half production, scoring twice after the break.

The Kalshi price of 64¢ (-178) offers a slightly better payout than the listed -182 sportsbook number. The computer projects Colombia’s substantial possession advantage to wear down Congo DR.”
