Both sides booked their spots on July 4. France got past Paraguay 1-0, while Morocco rolled Canada 3-0. It sets up a rematch of the 2022 semifinal, which France won 2-0 on its way to the final.

The opening France vs Morocco odds make the French clear favorites to book a spot in the final four.

France Rolls Through the Draw

France has been the team to beat, winning all five games and scoring 16 goals along the way. Les Bleus won Group I with a perfect record, then blitzed Sweden 3-0 in the round of 32.

The quarterfinal spot came the grinding way. France edged a stubborn Paraguay 1-0 in Philadelphia, with Kylian Mbappé converting a second-half penalty to settle a physical, low-scoring test against the side that had stunned Germany in the previous round.

The Sweden win was more of a statement. France outshot the Swedes 25-7 and posted a 3.17 expected-goals mark to just 0.67, described as their most commanding knockout display since the 1998 final.

Ousmane Dembélé leads the tournament with four goals and Michael Olise has five assists. Kylian Mbappé, meanwhile, has chased down records all summer, entering the quarterfinal round already holding the all-time mark for goals in World Cup knockout play.

Morocco Makes More History

Morocco reached the quarterfinals by beating co-host Canada 3-0 in Houston. Azzedine Ounahi scored twice in the second half and Soufiane Rahimi added a late third off the bench.

With the win, the Atlas Lions became the first African nation to reach the World Cup quarterfinals more than once, backing up their semifinal run from 2022. Morocco is ranked sixth in the world.

Their road here was dramatic. Morocco got past the Netherlands on penalties in the round of 32, with Issa Diop heading home a 91st-minute equalizer before Yassine Bounou saved a shootout penalty.

One concern: midfielder Ismael Saibari, who had scored three goals in three games, left the Canada match early with an injury. His status for the quarterfinal is in doubt.

H2H History: FRA vs MAR

The most recent meeting is the one everyone remembers. France beat Morocco 2-0 in the 2022 World Cup semifinal in Qatar, goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

That remains the only World Cup meeting between the two. France has never officially lost to Morocco in a recognized match, though the Atlas Lions have shown before that they can hang with Les Bleus.
